1994 Fedex Hijacking
« on: October 12, 2009, 08:06:49 PM »
I had the pleasure of sitting in the airport over the weekend because my flight home was delayed.  :whatever: I got to chatting with a lady from my home town who was on my flight and found out that she works for Fedex (like a lot of people in Memphis LOL) and knew the pilot. I couldn't recall the story but it was all over the news and a book had been written. Anyway, I promised myself I would google it when I got home. This is such an interesting read!! These guys are heros.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

I read about his hijacking. The idea of using an airplane as a weapon is not new, prior to 9/11. It was a work of a disgruntled worker who wanted to crash the airplane into FedEx's Memphis headquarters. There is Samuel Byck. He wanted to hijack an airplane and crash it into the White House in order to kill President Nixon in 1974. Not the first time the White House has been a target of aerial attacks.
