Fox’s Volley With Obama Intensifying

Attacking the news media is a time-honored White House tactic but to an unusual degree, the Obama administration has narrowed its sights to one specific organization, the Fox News Channel, calling it, in essence, part of the political opposition.

“We’re going to treat them the way we would treat an opponent,” said Anita Dunn, the White House communications director, in a telephone interview on Sunday. “As they are undertaking a war against Barack Obama and the White House, we don’t need to pretend that this is the way that legitimate news organizations behave.”

Her comments are only the latest in the volatile exchange between the administration and the top-rated network, which is owned by the News Corporation, controlled by Rupert Murdoch. Last month, Roger Ailes, the chairman of Fox News, and David Axelrod, a senior adviser to President Obama, met for coffee in New York, in what Politico, which last week broke that news, labeled a “Fox summit.”

While neither party has said what was discussed, some have speculated that a truce, or at least an adjustment in tone, was at issue. (Mr. Ailes and Mr. Obama reportedly reached a temporary accord after a meeting in mid-2008.) But shots are still being fired, which animates the idea that both sides see benefits in the feud.

Fox seems to relish the controversy.

“Instead of governing, the White House continues to be in campaign mode, and Fox News is the target of their attack mentality,” Michael Clemente, the channel’s senior vice president for news, said in a statement on Sunday. “Perhaps the energy would be better spent on the critical issues that voters are worried about.”

White House Says Fox Is Not A News Network

"I think what is fair to say about FOX and certainly the way we view it is that it really is more a wing of the Republican Party...[When President Obama] goes on FOX, he understands that he is not going on -- it really is not a news network at this point. He's going to debate the opposition."

So said White House communications director Anita Dunn on Sunday's "Reliable Sources" in what appeared to be an extension of her shameful attack on Fox reported by NewsBusters' Lachlan Markay Thursday.

What a joke this administration is. They go after the only voice of unbiased news , simply because Fox is unwilling to bend over for 0Bama like the other networks. Fox is not a news network because they refuse to accept the word of this administration and they look for other sources of information.  Maybe it would be different if Hannity or O'Reilly felt a tingle in their leg once in awhile.

So CNN can fact-check a comedy skit on SNL that makes fun of the jug-eared Kenyan, Chrissy Matthews can get all tingly just thinking about Barack Hussein Obama, and MSNBC hosts can refer to him as "sort of God," but Fox is the obviously the problem here.   :whatever:

I'm so sick of our country and the Presidential Office being mocked by this baby boy campaigner-in-chief.  What a ****ing loser.

Imagine the outrage had President Bush done the same thing to MS-NBC.

I think Bush just won the election and then tried to run the country.  Obama has won the election and is already campaigning for the next one.  But his reactions to Fox News are the same reactions all liberals have when someone disagrees.  Kinda sad.

The Administration flacks sense they are in trouble and are lashing out at the biggest, closest target.  But, Fox is only responding to what people want, which is less about how many unicorns are on the way from National Barak Channel, PMS-NBC, the All-Barak Channel, See-BS, the Washington Posterboy, and the New York Slimes ('All the news we see fit to print').  Fox would stop in a minute if it wasn't what people wanted to hear, and that fact is why the papers are dying and Fox is kicking the ass of all the broadcast media.  The (Comparative) aggressiveness of Fox News and its success are a symptom, not the disease.

Odd that they aren't objecting to all the bias in those other media, innit?

I don't even think he is campaigning for the next, I think he just doesn't know how to do anything other than campaigning and voting "present" between campaigns.  Since he can't vote "present" now, it has to be campaign.

I kind of wish they would put together a "Best of Redeye" each week and air it earlier on Saturday or Sunday. Make it an hour or hour and half long.

Are you guys for real?  Much as I'd prefer a strong President for the country's sake, this blundering idiot is ruining himself at every turn.  Potshots at entertainers and news networks?  From a sitting President???   :loser:

Say what you want about Bush, the high ground was all his on this front.  He never thought to enter the fray in the peanut gallery like the jug-eared Kenyan has done and continues to do.  Obama looks like an incompetent, over-zealous egomaniac daily.  Let him blubber all he wants about Fox's big bad mouthpiece.  You know Fox is loving it all the way to the bank.

I can do without redeye. That show is so homoerotic. I can do without a host who introduces his male guests with suggesting he wants to blow them, has a fruity monologue, and "Male" time.

And I don't care if Greg says he is married, he's obviously a flaming homo or bisexual, along with his newspaper playing co-host.
