By the way, one is suprised by the primitive reaction to Bo getting some sort of prize; even the
Die alte Sau, the dysmenopausal Kansas school teacher, is questioning it.

I am a human being first, a progressive second and a Democrat third
And I will NOT applaud the giving of a "peace" prize to a President who is continuing one useless war of choice and escalating another. Since progressive seems to equal pariah on this board now, I'll direct your attention to the ignore button right above the subject line. Might as well use it because I'm not shutting up voluntarily.
By the way, the shadowy primitive's still trying to get social security disability, but for some odd reason medical professionals seem to agree he's only mildly nuts, not too nuts to work.

14. Actually, on FR they constantly suggest "posting on DU" to people who dissent there.
Kind of creppy, hu?

7. I'm not as down on Obama as you are, but certainly there's enough there to warrant holding off.
It's premature at best and unwarranted at worst.

You... or me?

15. There you have it: if you do not agree with the majority, you cannot be a Democrat.
Exactly how does that work and who gets to determine it?

18. Didn't say that.... said there are sites more receptive to being a "progressive first"
This site is, by its charter, about and for "Democrats".
You can be a Democrat and a Progressive....

19. You are. You're looking for the political benefit in the announcement rather than....assessing the actual merits of the person that won. You can't get around your blind party loyalty. You're acting like a Republican.

20. I haven't read one comment from a republican on the matter
I'm entirely capable of making up my own mind. Maybe it's people who think that a country involved in two wars of choice deserves to be hailed for its peaceful efforts are the ones with self determination problems.

21. But, but, but..the speeches.
He certainly deserved it for his gift of gab.
Congrats to the Prez..it's quite an honor. But, yeah, don't really see why he deserved it, NOW. In a few years, maybe. Wasn't the deadline in Feb? So he was prez. for just a few weeks. Before that, he was in campaign mode, and certainly not deserving of it when your bitching back and forth with your opponent.

24. I just think it is premature
I don't think it is a good idea to give people awards after 9 months in office. I'm not angry about it or anything, but Al Gore, Jimmy Carter, and Martin Luther King had a lifetime of work before they received it.
