WASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court is taking up a long-running legal fight over a cross honoring World War I soldiers that has stood for 75 years on public land in a remote part of California.

The cross, on an outcrop known as Sunrise Rock in the Mojave National Preserve, has been covered in plywood for the past several years following federal court rulings that it violates the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment prohibition against government endorsement of religion.

How does the physical presence of a cross on public land in Nevada constitute Congress making a law respecting an establishment of religion?

Lawyers have to read so much in law school.  You'd think they would all stumble on the concept of reading for comprehension at some point.

Congress has designated the Cross as a war memorial, that should have ended it.  Too bad the minority of atheists and Christian-haters tend to get their way.  If they can force the removal of this cross, then what is to stop someone from trying to remove all of the crosses at Arlington and other veterans cemeteries?

Why is it okay to endorse and make exceptions for the muslim community? Happening all the time in MN - seems like the 14th isn't being applied equally.

If this happens, the next thing will be Arlington.
