There is this guy:
LINKWesson Mass Murder: 5 Years Later

EXCERPT KMPH TV:
Posted: March 12, 2009 11:08 PM By Norma Yuriar and Winston Whitehurst

The vacant lot on the corner of Weber and Hammond Avenue in Central Fresno looks no different from any other.

"What that lot represents in Fresno County history is going to linger for a long, long time," said Fresno County Public Defender, Peter Jones.

Five years ago, there was a home on that lot, full of children.  But on March 12, 2004, their young bodies were carried out in body bags, in what's being called the worst mass murder in Fresno County history.

"I responded to the scene, and I saw nine bodies pilled up.  Out of nine, seven where all children," said Fresno County Forensic Pathologist, Dr. Venu Gopal.

Although five years have passed, the images are still fresh in the minds of the people first on scene.

"There are images I don't think I am ever going to forget.  I think of Jeva and she was wearing tiny little jean pants with her red sweatshirt," said Fresno County Prosecutor, Lisa Gamoian.

The victims' own father, Marcus Wesson, was taken into custody after a stand off with Fresno Police over a child custody issue.

"He was the head of the family.  He was the only one who came out alive," said Jones, who represented Wesson during the trial.

DNA evidence would later confirm Wesson was the father and grandfather of three of the children killed on March 12, 2004.

"You feel in a way ashamed that this would happen here," said Fresno County District Attorney, Elizabeth Egan.

But it did, sparking "community outrage", said Public Defender Ralph Torres, who also represented Wesson, and was denied his request for a change of venue.

"You could say he was the most hated man ever in Fresno County, ever," said Torres.

In 2005, a jury found Wesson guilty on nine counts of first-degree murder.  Even though, it is widely believed that he brainwashed his older daughter, Sebhrenah, to pulll the trigger.  This was part of a long-standing suicide pact within the family.

The Charles Starkweather-Caril Ann Fugate murders, but that was a long time ago now.

The bank robbery in Norfolk, Nebraska, in 2002, that I guess still ranks as the bloodiest bank robbery in American history (5 victims; perpetrators caught almost immediately).

I'm not sure what your definition of 'infamous' is, but at the time this was a huge story.  I would imagine many people have forgotten about it by now.

Paul Dennis Reid, Jr. (born November 12, 1957) is an American serial killer, convicted and sentenced to death for seven murders during three fast food restaurant robberies in Metropolitan Nashville, Tennessee and Clarksville, Tennessee between the months of February and April 1997. At the time of the murders, Reid was on parole from an 1983 conviction in Texas on charges relating to the aggravated armed robbery of a Houston steakhouse. He had served seven years of a 20-year sentence, and was paroled in 1990. Originally from Richland Hills, Texas, a suburb of Fort Worth, Reid came to Nashville to pursue a career as a country music singer. He is currently awaiting execution.

For such a small area  we have big time crime.  Shelia Labar,-- The 4 murders unsolved since 1985-1994?  --The murder trial of the owner of Brooks Pharmacy's huge chain operation, ---the crazy politician who faked his disappearance for 2 days costing the state a few hundred bucks including search  and trial costs, Not to mention Pamala Smart and the 2 movies made about her dirty deeds.

In a small town Murder hits us with a big blow to the gut. Often we will know someone or their family from friends, relatives or work.  Since our police force is small our cops know the family history of some of the worse of the worse.

We had one case a few year ago when the female Mayor of a town of size had to face the problem of a son who kidnapped and took his ex-girlfriend out of state at gun point  threatening to kill her.  To no ones surprise nothing about the arrest was reported in our local paper, we got our information from the news papers from other towns.

Strange things go on in small towns, there was the homeowner who had just bought a home from the town sheriff, he needed to have septic tank dug up and found the sheriffs wife's first husband under the tank.----SURPRISE----!!!!!

Then the very small town that had a church social after services for about 30 people and someone had put ant killer in the coffee urn.

You know it makes one wonder if the police do in fact know who did the crime but just can't get a handle on how to prove it in court.  Neighbors and family have a good idea of who the bad boys are but with no solid evidence the crime stays unsolved.

Things have been just too darn quiet in this area lately, Humane Nature is sure to pop up again with 'Somebody did somebody wrong", just a matter of time.

Nothing infamous - but there was a suicide in a house over the road and a couple down , and the guys in the house at the end of the street got convicted of a fairly brutal drug related murder - both cases before I was a teenager.

Recently, there was Ed and Elaine Brown, the tax-evaders holed up on their property for something like a year before they were arrested.

I read a story a while back about a woman who had possibly murdered and mummified five of her own children:

Just recently there was a family of 5 murdered  in Beason Illinois, not too far from here.  They have arrested a suspect, and ex-husband of one of the daughters.

About 13 years ago, a woman that worked for the local paper was murdered and her dismembered body found in a lake. Her ex-husband and his parents were convicted.

Wisconsin is the ONLY state in the union that ever produced not one, but TWO ritualistic canibal serial killers!

Jeffrey Dahmer and Ed Gein.

Dahmer was in Milwaukee 50 odd miles east of us and Gein was in Plainfield a bit north.

Harry T & Harriet Moore were both blown up near here. He was the founder of the NAACP chapter here in the county and was active in the goings on in the state. In 1951 he pissed someone off enough to plant a bomb under his bedroom that took the both of them out on their 25th anniversary.

No one has ever been caught.

For such a small area  we have big time crime.

There are some notorious cases, only because ANY murder is actually pretty out-of-the-ordinary.  IOW, the FBI's crime stats would greatly disagree with you.

Check it out for yourself:

http://www.city-data.com/

Pick your state, then city.  Compare.  Even crime in my town, which locals claim is bad (and is compared to surrounding towns), is barely one-half the national average.  Now compare that to the "quiet" small town where I went to HS--nearly DOUBLE the national average.  Both towns are roughly the same size.  In 2007, they had 8 murders in a town of 35,000.  Where I now live has had ONE in the last eight years.

Sorry, NH is far from a high-crime area.

Let's see, where I live is just down the road from the JonBenet Ramsey debacle.

Where I grew up - or as some might say, transited through adolescence - was just across the pond from the Green River Killer's hunting ground.

A grizzly bear attacked a neighbor on his front lawn, a mountain lion attacked a neighbor out walking her dog and a sheriff deputy and the local bar owner both shot each other by accident.  The sheriff was called to investigate a prowler that happened to be the bar owner.  The bar owner not aware that someone had called the sheriff thought he had an armed robbery about to go down.  Both shot at eachother, both were hit, the bar owner died.  I live in a violent area.  I am always armed.
