Update on Bus Beating
« on: September 25, 2009, 10:52:31 PM »
BELLEVILLE -- The family of a white teenager beaten by two blacks on a Belleville school bus issued a statement Thursday deploring those who would use the episode to promote bigotry.
Officials who filed aggravated assault charges in juvenile court against two suspects, 14 and 15, have said there is no evidence of a racial motivation in the Sept. 14 incident. But a white supremacist group has cited the case in calling for a rally in Belleville on Saturday.

They leave out that the father of one of the attackers is claiming his son has been expelled because he's black. And the Black Panthers are there too.   Should be an interesting rally tomorrow.

Thanks for the update.  Please keep us posted when you can.

NAACP reviews expulsions of Belleville West students

The NAACP East St. Louis chapter is reviewing the expulsions Monday of two Belleville West High School students who have been charged in a Sept. 14 school bus attack, saying that the move could do more harm than good, the Rev. Johnny Scott said.

"I'm not trying to uphold any wrongdoing. You've got to be punished," said Scott, who is president of the NAACP chapter. "But we've got to look at the circumstances. Who are we punishing? We're punishing the future generation. ... We don't need to take away their education."
