Oh my.

The primitives are at it again.

Of course, what the primitives don't understand is that their hapless majority leader in the Senate knows more about politics in one of his fingernails, than do the primitives all put together.

Reid gives GOP direct warning on healthcare

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) gave Republicans his most direct warning to date that he is prepared to use a procedural maneuver to pass healthcare reform with a simple majority.

Reid told Republicans that he would prefer to pass healthcare reform under regular order but warned that he would not hesitate to use budget reconciliation if the legislation stalled in committee. The Senate Finance Committee began marking up a sprawling healthcare reform bill on Tuesday morning.

13. It could be the worst of all possible worlds. Bad bill owned totally by the Democrats.

We're forced to buy insurance; no real alternative to buying from the health companies; health companies lightly regulated, if that.

That's a win-win-win for the Republicans.

23. Yeah right

He also said the public option was not required to be in the bill for him to sign it, so I hope you aren't holding your breath.

39. Yet, the Democrats pick him to be their leader. Interesting, no?

The Democrats picked him to be their leader because Harry Reid was the best talent they had, or have, and one can't do more than their best talent.

But he's the best the Democrats in the Senate have.

Who, pray tell, is more competent at Senate leadership among the Democrats?

I can't think of one.  The Democrats selected the best man they had.

He's got to play the cards he's dealt, as we all must, I suppose.  Even a weasel like Harry Reid has to realize that this maneuver would feature prominently as a runaway abuse of power by the Democrats in the next round of Congressional elections.

I would say Reid is the most intelligent, has more backbone, and possesses more leadership abilities than anyone else in the Dem party, especially Dear Leader.

Well, I shake the names of all Democrats in the U.S. Senate, including the "independent" Jr. from Vermont, around inside my head, and to be honest, while there's some Democrat senators better than other Democrat senators, no Democrat senator seems to have more political skills, more political talent, more political savvy, more leadership qualities, than Harry Reid.

Just because someone's a "good" senator doesn't mean he'd make a good leader in the Senate.

I'm sure the primitives wet-dream about Jr. from Vermont or Feingold from Wisconsin or Babs from California, but no way could a wild-eyed rabid left-wing extremist senator be a leader of Democrats more "moderate" than they are.

Obviously, the primitives have no idea what "leadership" is, and means.

Harry Reid is the best the Democrats got; it's unfortunate he's not up to snuff in so many ways, but he's the best they've got, and one can't get anything better than the best of what's available.

I'm starting to wonder if the House and Senate Democrats are feeling a bit suicidal - Life was so much easier when they could blame Republicans, and at the same time motivate their base. - Now they are in charge across the board, they have no scapegoat, and those donation dollars aren't flowing like they used to, since people actually expect them to follow through on all that bluster when they were powerless..

Unfortunately, a congressperson's goal is not to serve his or her constituents - its to get reelected . Doing what the electorate wants is a nice side effect. However. if it means throwing some of their own such as the 'blue dogs' under the bus to put themselves back in the position where they can bitch and moan to make their base happy, and not actually be responsible for anything, they will.

Harry Reid is screwed, he's not going to be re-elected so he seems to be going scotched earth.
