Irene Vilar worries that her self-described "abortion addiction" will be misunderstood, twisted by the pro-life movement to deny women the right to choose.

Her book, "Impossible Motherhood," which will be released by Other Press on Oct. 6, chronicles her own dark choices: 15 abortions in 16 years, much of it as a married woman.

As press on the book has begun to leak out, Vilar -- a literary agent and editor --- says she has already sensed "an inkling of hatred."

Vilar has scheduled only closed-door interviews and will not do a book tour. At the urging of her husband, they have made sure all public property records do not reflect her name, so she cannot be targeted at their home.

My ex-sister in-law's sister has had 13 as of about five years ago. I have no idea if she has had any since. They were each conceived with married men (married men is all she dates). She used the pregnancy as a way to get the men to leave their wives but none of them would so she ended up aborting. She did want to keep one but miscarried at 18 weeks in my ex-sister in-law's bathroom.  The doctor said her cervix was too weak from her previous abortions (yes, she had more abortions AFTER her miscarriage). 

This woman is very pretty physically but so ugly on the inside that it ruins her.

This makes me so ill to read this I struggled with the ability to have a baby for 6 years went to countless doctors and specialists to have my two beautiful children and these women throw their babies away like candy wrappers makes me ill.

Why would she be ashamed?  She's been conditioned to view her choice as paramount.

But notice, she desperately doesn't want to be viewed as an animal.  She doesn't want people to condemn her, most likely because in her heart of hearts she's already condemned herself.

There are no words to express the moral outrage here.  "Stupid whore dumb bitch," while an expression of my initial innermost thoughts, doesn't even come close.  Hers is the face of evil, plain and simple.  Even worse, it's an evil that's been not only been accepted by society, but celebrated as good.  "Woe to those..."

Let's see, I got pregnant TWICE while on birth control pills and using them properly.  After the second baby, I made a VERY SMART decision and had my tubes tied.  Apparently, the birth control didn't work for me!  Duh!  This woman is an idiot.

But Vilar blames much of her poor choices on a hypersexualized society that at once values the perfect mother, but also expects women to be sexually attractive to men and to achieve professionally.

"Women have a deep need for agency, for purpose and direction and society is not providing natural and healthy channels for creative action," she said.

"In school and on TV, every message I get is what I am doing as a mother or wife is wrong," said Vilar. "I should be thinking about a profession and not mothering. Everyone is having babies, and yet they don't want to care for them.

"Are many of the repeat abortions in part an embodiment of this mixed message? A lost, ambivalent attempt at an act of agency that cannot find its proper vessel? "

And it's not even her own fault she murdered 15 of her 17 children...it's society's fault.

She grew up in the shadow of her notorious grandmother Puerto Rican nationalist Lolita Lebron, who stormed the Capitol steps with a gun in 1954. Lebron served 25 years in jail for the crime until receiving a pardon from President Carter in 1979.

Her mother committed suicide by throwing herself from a moving car when Vilar was 8 and two of her brothers were heroin addicts.

Sounds like insanity runs rampant in that family. That's one gene pool I wouldn't want to take a dip in.

I don't know, she could have said she was infertile for all I know or on birth control.  She is just as much of a monster as this women who wrote the book.



Edited to add: I went and read the comments on that article.  Some people think it is a hoax because it can't possibly be true.  I say it is very much possible and probable after knowing about my ex-sister in-law's sister.  Why she decided to write a book about it is beyond me.
