I tried to read the responses, just to see if anyone chimed in to say, "Hey, wait a minute there Mark, buddy..." but they blithely continue to add their own ideas on why it may or may not be plausible without ever saying plainly it's just wrong (with few exceptions).

Just, wow.

Can this be reported somehow? It makes me very uncomfortable.

Seems like a rather far-fetched premise to me, it would take a quite extreme provocation to get any significant number of Americans stirred up to the point of armed revolt...really a series of extreme provocations.  Americans place great faith in our system of checks and balances, things would have to reach such a pass that they believed even judicial relief in the courts had been rendered a complete farce.  I'll have to click over and read it and see what was supposed to have pushed the whole applecart over the cliff in the scenario.

On edit - read it.  Very poor job of constructing a believable scenario, really glosses over the hard part entirely.  It's also chock full of numerous pet-rock Black-helicopter-crowd assumptions about the Left and government in general.  I give it B for style, and a very charitable D- for substance as alternate history fiction.

I'm not computer smart but seems to me the fastest way to get rid of the DUmmies would be to hack the government computers that pass out the freebies.... you know, welfare, food stamps, free housing, medicaid, etc. etc.. Do it in the dead of winter or shortly before and most of them would freeze or starve to death. ....or be killed robbing stores and jacking their drug dealers.

A real way to hurt the government would be for a majority of wage earners to up all their deductions to the point that there is no income tax going to state or federal governments.  Yes, the feds will get their 16% from FICA and medicare but that is it.  Unlike a DUmbass, we could really hurt them.

There are penalties for deliberately under withholding aren't there?  Still it would be an effective way to protest, but the Fed would take a cue from CaliFruitopia and issue IOU's.

Not for the first year and as long as you pay by the quarter under the last year's tax.  In other words, you stop now but make up the difference on January 15 2010 and April 15 2010.
