Iran 'number one world power': Ahmadinejad

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared on Thursday that Iran was the world's "number one" power, as he launched a bitter new assault on domestic critics he accused of siding with the enemy.
"Everybody has understood that Iran is the number one power in the world," Ahmadinejad said in a speech to families who lost loved ones in the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.

"Today the name of Iran means a firm punch in the teeth of the powerful and it puts them in their place," he added in the address broadcast live on state television.

Ahmadinejad's comments come amid renewed Western efforts on the UN Security Council to agree a third package of sanctions against Tehran over its refusal to suspend sensitive nuclear activities.

They also came a day after former top nuclear negotiator Hassan Rowhani launched an unprecedented attack on Ahmadinejad's foreign policy, accusing him of using "coarse slogans and grandstanding".

Number one in the world at what? Mass graves for dissidents? Crazy political leaders? Piles of camel dung from border to border? Then yes. Anything else, no... not really.

Don't anyone take me wrong.........

"IF" they get nukes they will be the scariest bastards on the face of this planet.

My personal belief is that they already have some, but not enough to have "chips" in the "big game".

For those who don't believe that they could possibly have nukes, just ponder this...

In the 40's the United States built the first atonic bombs in a short period of time with theoretical science and unproven methods. Two of the scientists believed that when the bomb went off that it would catch the atmosphere on fire, some believed that it would simply spew out micro fine particles of radioactive material and not much more, and some were absolutely shocked that it's explosive power was so potent.

If they had todays knowledge and equipment back then we would have had the ability to stop the cold war before it started.

Why people don't think that they have the where-with-all to have some working nukes is beyond me.

The Nazi's had an amazing amount of radioactive laced ultra-fine sand which if we had not taken out their early day ICBM's with our bombing raids they were going to load them up with this material and explode them over the continental United States making life in a wide area near the blast site impossible. These sites were heavily defended and this is the reason we lost so manby planes and men.

We can not allow Iran to ever become a "player" in the nuclear game.

I, for one, do not want to go to sleep under the light of a muslim moon.

Take them out now.

Nukes are the kind of weapon you have to test detonate before you can run-around waving your dick. Unless the Iranians are running a seamless transition of the North Korean nuke program (an exetremely unlikely logistical and technical probability) they ain't there yet.

Alas, our efforts to promote the anti-mullah sentiments in Iran have been woefully under-powered and the Iranian people--a generally pro-Western people--will suffer for our lapse.
