Karl Rove is Above the Law…

The people who mismanage our foreign policy, our fiscal policy, our energy policy etc., etc. have better things to do than to worry about a democratic backlash. At the same time, outright dictatorships are known for their political instability and the unreliable, unmotivated nature of their armed forces.

And so we have a Pseudo Democracy. Free expression is allowed to some extent, but never enough to change the perceived “conventional wisdom.” Elections are run, faces change, but policies remain constant. Managing the mighty Wurlitzer of the press and conceiving plausible election scenarios to be implemented by captive voting machine companies is hard work and requires an experienced hand.

That hand is Karl Rove. And Karl is above the law. So far above the law, in fact, that he’s allowed to indulge his petty grudges. If someone writes an op-ed he doesn’t like, they and/or their wife’s career is toast. If a Governor gave him a bad time in the past, it’s off to the Gulag with him. Think of it as a perk for sociopaths.

So you say “Junkdrawer, put away that tinfoil. Karl is just as accountable as any one of us.” Oh, really. Imagine if anyone of us thumbed our noses at Congressional Subpoenas, the Hatch Act, perjury laws, etc., etc. How long would we stay out of prison?

But Karl? Hell, he’s given a cushy job at Fox News. No, no, Karl is above the law. He knows it and he flaunts it.

But, I’ll tell you what Karl: This whole “democracy” act grows mighty thin. And, remember: that’s the job they outsourced to you. And Karl: someday “someone” is going to need to restore some believability to this “democracy”. And when they do, they’ll need a sacrificial lamb to prove they’re sincere. Wonder who they’ll pick…

and don't expect them to be sacrificed- in time, they'll be canonized.

Yeah and the democrats are people who will not do anything about evil except appease it.

One can only hope: "Karl: someday someone is going to need to restore some believability to this democracy. And when they do, they’ll need a sacrificial lamb to prove they’re sincere. Wonder who they’ll pick."

Where in the heck does this person live?  Please tell us of ONE example of the government suppressing free expression.  Just ONE.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle
