Gilbert, Ariz., police want a school bus driver charged with assault for getting into a shoving and hair pulling match with three of her teenage student riders — which was taped by a surveillance camera.

Driver Kim Sullivan was attempting to deal with a 15-year-old student on a Feb. 15 bus trip when the fight began.

Tensions began with the 15-year-old girl pretending not to be on the list of authorized passengers. The situation escalated when Sullivan pulled the bus over and asked, "Why are you on this bus?" and suggested she "find another way" to get to and from school.

I was discussing the original video with some others in the SB last night.  This story just boggles my mind about how younger people behave these days, and I am interested in what others have to say about it.

We have been talking about this story a lot on another board I belong to. Here's some of what's been said. One of the commenters is a bus driver -

 I was just furious watching this stupid, spoiled showoff of a brat perform for the whole bus.  The tape starts out with the driver asking why the girl was on her bus - we aren't allowed to take kids who don't belong on our bus.  So then the girl says, ok, I'm getting off.  And the driver refused to let her off because she could get in big trouble for letting her out just any old place.  I'm appalled that the poor driver called for police backup, and it escalated to that point before help arrived.  These kids looked and acted like a lot of my high school kids, with the loud mouths, lack of respect for adults, and their view that the bus driver is just some servant beneath contempt.  Most drivers are tough enough to deal with surly teens, but when a driver asks for police backup, they should respond right away.

The driver was pretty calm and professional throughout the whole thing, but she shouldn't have gotten into a wrestling match over the cell phone there at the end.  I hope she isn't charged with anything because the girl was asking for a complete a$$ kicking IMO.

If it had been me, I would have blocked the door handle so the girl couldn't get off and told the whole bus we could sit there all night but we aren't rolling until everyone is sitting.  She could have kept her cell phone, but she WOULD sit down.  Immediately.  And if she didn't sit down I would have called the cops too....$12/hr for that kind of crap just isn't worth it.

She wrote an email to the police chief and here's the reply -

The Police Department must submit the investigation for review by the County Attorney's Office when there is sufficient cause to indicate that a crime has occured.  The County Attorney will decide if formal charges are filed, and if so, who the charges are filed against.  Our job is to investigate and report the facts.

I cannot fathom what we didn't see on the tape. It pretty much runs the length of the entire incident. I think she needed her little a$$ kicked. Spoiled, entitled little b*tch. Obviously not taught to respect authority.

I read online that charges are pending for the driver, the girl and the daughter of the driver who intervenes towards the end.

School bus drivers should be issued tasers.  One shot with that, problem solved.  I think her daughter who sat quietly for most of the fight deserves a key to the city.  Had that been my mom the mouthy little wench would have left in an ambulance. :bird:

I definitely have to agree with you, Mama.   Tasers are needed thanks to these kids who think they are entitled to behave any way they choose.

I may only be 23, but when college students are noticing how badly behaved and spoiled to the core high-schoolers(and to some extent, middle-schoolers) are, you know things are bad.

Dixie, that police response is pretty ridiculous.  The video I posted WAS the entire incident.   We saw everything.   I don't know what those folks are smoking, but apparently they must not know that the entire video is out there on YouTube.  :mental:

Nowadays, you have to watch your ass on everything. Back in the day, kids knew how to behave. They didn't even have the same entitlement attitude they have now back in my day when I was going to the schools in the East Bluff and South Side here, mostly because if the kids started shit... they'd get their asses whooped. I remember my 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Wyzokoski... had a HUGE paddle. I mean, this thing was 4 feet long and had the airflow holes in it with leather banding wrapped across the handle for a better grip. I acted up in class, I got my ass swatted with that thing, and that sonofabitch hurt! Nowadays kids are quick to wave the lawyer card (like the brat did in the video) when the bus driver tried to subdue her.

as for these kids, i would ground any kid of mine within an inch of their damned life if they pulled something like that.

but i'm thinking this kid will make the rounds of the talk shows, get a book deal and be 'scarred for life'  :whatever:

Oh, my kids definitely won't be able to pull crap like that and get away with it (when I have them).

Oh, I definitely get the feeling that  will happen.   Though the daughter admitted she was wrong and "immature," I think her mom is continuing to encourage the bad behavior and will likely encourage her daughter to do whatever it takes to keep the media spotlight on them.

I'm so mad I can't see straight!!!!!   Last night, I was channel surfing (our channel guide doesn't work so you never know what's on grrrr...) and I happened to land on a news show that was running this bus video so I stopped. They were interviewing the little b*tchlette and her mother.

OMG!!! The mother was totally defended her daughter and was outright PISSED about the whole thing. Not a single word about how her daughter behaved. She defended the behavior and they both said that the bus driver was "deranged" and basically deserved it. They kept saying that the bus driver was "psycho" and that she purposely stayed out of camera range because she was abusing the girl. OMG.

I'm trying to find the interview online. I think it was Fox that ran it but they were being interviewed by a man. You could hear him but not see him. You could also tell from his tone that he thought they were in the wrong and that he wanted to confront them. I would wrung her little neck. And the mom? She's a piece of work. Now it all makes sense. Not one single mention of her getting in the bus driver's face!!! All they said was that this driver would often pull over to tell the kids to calm down and that she hated riding her bus. 

I cannot see straight!!!!!! 

I'm writing an email to that police chief after I calm down. 

Someone else just told me that Nancy Grace nailed her a** to the wall on her show. I'll have to find that one too.

Oh I'm certain of it. And during the interview, the mother and daughter were standing in what appeared to be their home. In the background, you could hear someone calling out. The daughter turned her head and said "WHAT!?" in a really sarcastic tone to whomever was off-camera. Then she quickly turned back around to the interviewer. VERY telling about her home life.

If these little punks want to step into an adults shoes and fight an adult, then they should get their asses beat like an adult.  Let's take off the kid gloves and go!!!  Most of these little f@ckers do this sh!t because they know an adult can't touch them.  Let's level the playing field and see how these kids react.

This is what happens when liberals control the education system.   Kids are taught to NOT respect their elders, but to challenge all authority and when they DO get called on something they do wrong, the adults involved are told by the liberals in charge to "keep the kid gloves on."   :mental:

My Mom drove bus in the 60's.

When the kids started getting out of hand she just stood on the breaks and smacked them off the seat in front of them and then offered to kick their asses.
