Facebook peeps - anyone else get this today?
« on: September 03, 2009, 10:32:53 PM »
I don't hang out there much, but noticed this status update from a few friends this evening:

Quote
xxxxx - believes that no one should die because they cannot afford health care, and nobody should go broke because they get sick. If you agree, please post this as your status for the rest of the day

Was there some effort by MoveOn or some similar group to do this today that I missed?

I saw that from an old HS friend that describes herself on FB as "very liberal"

--I fully agree with the sentiment but I'd add that I don't feel we should tax ourselves into the stone age so that 15 million people (+/-) can get healthcare.

Same here on the sentiment.

The first part is a lie - no one is denied healthcare.

There should be a fix - but it sure as hell shouldn't be run by the government.

I've considered replying as much too her but from all the soccer mom support she's getting from that post - most thinking she came up with it herself I'm sure - I decided to keep my nose out of that fire.

I saw it as the subject body for a poll that one of my friends took.  It stank of NeoCom, so I left it alone.

Hilarious! I saw that status pop up on a couple friends.

Here was my status and no prisoners were taken in the comments.  :-)

Yeah, I just saw someone post that on their profile, too.  But I also saw this:

"No one should die because the Government is involved with health care, and no one should go broke because government taxes and spends everything we make. If you agree (that government is the problem and never a good solution) please post this as your status for the rest of the day."

Looks like some of my friends have added to it to put on their status;

Quote
No one should die because they cannot afford health care, and no one should go broke because they get sick. However, the government should not be in the health care business. No public health care. Just health care reform! If you agree, please post this as your status for the rest of the day.

She's lying.  I've seen it first hand.  Some of the videos she posts over there would make a stripper blush.

I have seen that on more than one of my friends FB within the last few days.  The banter over there is quite viral.  I try to stay completely out of the fray, as I have quite opposing views, and I was raised by my Mom that if I can't say anything nice, keep my mouth shut.  Since my family are also my friends, they know my views.  I don't need to invite all that nastiness.  I do have some very dear friends that I love very very much, but happen to be morons about politics.  So, I don't discuss them.  At all.  We know where we stand, and we aren't waivering, so there isn't any point.

I usually do this too, but I got weak for a moment..ugh! I'll be paying for this now for days in having to bang my head against the wall with people I consider friends and their extended liberal 'families'. sigh
