My sister the liberal nut
« on: September 02, 2009, 10:20:49 AM »
I love her to death and I always will, but she drives me nuts with comments like this:

Quote
Al Gore's dedication to a particular cause is more than schtick, Jay. He and the organization he founded five years ago received a Nobel Peace Prize for their work. It is possible to disagree with a person's ideals and values and not be insulting.

What's going on is "climate change," or unusual weather conditions. More violent storms, and conditions like 40 degree temperatures in the dog days of summer.

I responded with "When has the climate not changed?  And who and what defines weather conditions as "usual" or "unusual?""

Yeah, Yasser Arafat received the same honor.
NAMBLA is a left-wing organization.

Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

I like the not-so-subtle change from an adamant stance on 'Global Warming' to an equally adamant stance on 'Climate Change.'

"What?  The earth warming?!  Naaawwww... I never said that!  I said there would be radical temperature fluctuations!  That's always been my stance!"

It's like how ABC News posted on year on how coffee can actually be good for you then the next year run a report as to how much stress it adds to your life without skipping a beat.
"Eh? Two views? There are a dozen views about everything until you know the answer. Then there's never more than one."

And 30 odd years ago we were being warned about an impending ice age caused by pollutants. Now there are proposals to purposefully put pollutants into the atmosphere to prevent warming.

Ask her one simple question: "What is the correct temperature of the earth?"

Ask her one simple question: "What is the correct temperature of the earth?"
...answer will be, "With enough government funded studies, we can determine that".   :thatsright:

Oh lordy!!! I've got a few of those in my family tree too. +
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

Spread my work ethic, not my wealth.

Forget change, bring back common sense.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle
