ashepp3Um, who the hell cares if someone doesn't stand for the pledge? When did the USA become a dictatorship? Regardless of this confusing aspect of the article, it seems likely to me that the girl was lying or confused, but once again, who cares? This is crazy. 4!#1.4 - Tue Sep 1, 2009 3:08 PM CST
Adrian ThornI've always found the pledge to be alittle Nazi-esque. Maybe these conservatives and Teabaggers don't have a problem swearing to serve the State, but I'll fight the state the second it becomes unjust. Needless to say, I've been fighting for a while... 3!#1.5 - Tue Sep 1, 2009 3:19 PM CST
California MilitiaAdrian, the pledge used to be as you say "Nazi-esque" in that at the end when you state one nation under god, people used to pull their hand from their heart and put it out like the nazi salute. comparing any other portion of it to the nazi's just means you really dont understand and are going for the shock affect. !#1.6 - Tue Sep 1, 2009 3:42 PM CST
Thank you Ed for the link. Everybody should read that link. It really gives a fuller picture of the situation. This ROTC girl is a typical far-right racist. 10!#3.4 - Tue Sep 1, 2009 7:08 AM CST
Since when do schoolkids get suspended for saying mean stuff? Seriously!! If the schools suspended every kid that said something mean to another kid, they'd be EMPTY!
Apparently now the school district and teachers are claiming the student in question lied and never left the homeroom, and never saw the Muslim student in question not stand for the Pledge.
School officials would not release the identity of the Muslim student or any other facts about her. Duval did confirm the girl is new to Springstead this year.
Uh Principal Duval? You shouldn't have released any "facts" about the student who was suspended either. Privacy laws? mean anything to you Ms. Duval?
