Vatican rejects Kennedy diplomat role (Caroline)

ITALIAN MEDIA sources last weekend reported that the Holy See has rejected the possible appointment of Caroline Kennedy as US Ambassador to the Vatican.

Milan-based daily Il Giornale, owned by the family of Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, said that the Vatican has rejected three possible choices by the Obama government for the post of US ambassador, including that of Caroline Kennedy, daughter of John F Kennedy.

Il Giornale claims that the appointment of a new US ambassador to succeed Mary Ann Glendon has proved difficult because of the “strained” relations between the White House and the Holy See, which has been less than enamoured of Barack Obama’s public support for both abortion and stem cell research.

US media reports suggested that Ms Kennedy had originally been proposed to Mr Obama for the job by Democratic senator John Kerry by way of reward for her support for the president during last year’s election campaign.

However, one former US ambassador to the Vatican, Ray Flynn, speaking to the Boston Herald last week, argued that Ms Kennedy’s support for abortion made her an unsuitable choice.

“It’s imperative, it’s essential that the person who represents us to the Holy See be a person who has pro-life values,” he said.

“She said she was pro-choice. I don’t assume she’s going to change that, which is problematic.”

The White House has refused to comment, while senior Vatican spokesman Fr Federico Lombardi yesterday denied that the Holy See had blocked any potential appointments, saying that no proposals for the job had yet been made to the Vatican.

I wish Teh Zero luck in finding someone he wants to represent his administration who will "be a person who has pro-life values".  It doesn't seem that he knows anyone who even knows anyone like that.  Guess that's what happens when you intentionally seek out Marxists and those who have little respect for human life.

Good! Those bastages Kennedys aren't Catholics. They're Marxist baby killers. The only good Kennedy is a dead Kennedy.

Now I know why Teddy's letter to the Pope and the responce from not the Pope but a secretary was such a big part of his interment.  Is nothing sacrid , trying to bribe the Pope to give his niece a job at his own funeral.

It took me a minute or two to realise that the priest had given the impression that Ted had received a letter from the pope himself then the reality struck that the letter was not written in the first person.

One reporter. some guy, stated that Ted was the last true statesman, left. Kissinger was and still  is a statesman.

I definitly don't know for sure, not being there, but I will state that I question "his personal request" to the state for another reversal of law appointing a new Senator.  My reason is simple - last year a friend of mine died in Florida of the same type brain tumor he had and for a good month before Ron died, all he did was sleep, he couldn't function or do anything.  Now that he has died, it is beginning to appear the Kennedy mystic is disappearing - the power of big daddy Joe's money has run the gambit, being spead to thin over the entire large family, without replacement by any of the lightweight siblings and self-centered offspring's of the Camelot era.

Can I get "Duh"?  The catholic church pushes a pro-life agenda every chance thet get...especially during election years...it would be mighty hypocratic if they accepted a pro-abortion baby killer.

Reid isn't catholic, Schadey.  I'm actually ashamed to say he's a mormon.  (whether practicing -i.e. holds a current temple recommend, I know not, but I kinda doubt it)

I grew up Catholic and my biggest problem with the church was that the rules were different for the rich and influential like the Kennedy's...they can get rid of wives/husbands and with a fat envelope declare it annulled...kill baby's and call it caring... Then at thier funerals pretend they were saints UGH
