I try to avoid the interstate during rush hour... it was nerve-wracking the first time I had to do it. My car spends a lot of time in neutral while I'm stuck in traffic.
Same here both of my cars are stick , when training to be a bus driver that is how we were instructed to drive those big yellows.
This is in fact a safety thingies, the 2-3 seconds it takes to put in clutch and change gears is enough time to avoid someone running the light.
Hubby had a 1977 Camero when I met him in 1990, What a car, both doors were of different colors, one fender was another color. The body was brown primer and 35 pounds of bondo held it together.
He had paid the huge amount of $1,800 back in 1986 for the car, had rebuilt the engine and had a brand new exaust system installed.
He was now down to the little things, replacing every smack dab hose and clamps to everything, and saving money to get the best radiator on the market.
His heart broke when a friend the guy that sold him the car, offered to help restore the car and charge only $500.00 for labor, we brought the car over to his barn with about $1,000 worth of new parts. the repair man the good friend then told us days later that the car had been stolen, he had no insurance.
We had no insurance on the car, it was not even registered at that time.
Hubby was in some kind of shock, no car and a friendship of 30 years down the drain.
Today hubby will not even look at an old Cormaro, too painfull a reminder of the waste of dreams and loss of friends can be.
Did Corvair make convertales ? I really liked my 1968 baby. Hard top and no snow tires needed as the weight was in the back. Long as the frame held together that car would run, Most repairs were so easy any man woman or boy could learn the way to go in 30 minutes.
My Dad had a brand new Buick Skylark convertable white with baby blue interior. 1958 =====Nice.
This one the skylasrk had an electric motor to put the top up and down, I was a bit tiffed when I got years later,s 64 Sting Ray and had to put the top ip manually.
I wonder what that Sting Ray with factory installed glass packs would be worth today ????? The color was Silver anf had right red interor.
