Feingold asks Obama to announce a timetable for withdrawal from Afghanistan.

With polls showing that the war in Afghanistan is becoming increasingly unpopular, members of Congress have begun to express skepticism about the administration’s strategy there. Military officials believe that Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the top US commander in Afghanistan, may ask for as many as 20,000 additional troops. ABC News reports today that Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) has called on President Obama to announce a timetable for withdrawal from Afghanistan:

Sen. Russ Feingold, D-WI, called on President Obama to announce a timetable for withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan. “This is a strategy that is not likely to succeed,” Sen. Feingold said about the troop buildup in Afghanistan. <...>

“I think it is time we start discussing a flexible timetable so that people around the world can see when we are going to bring our troops out,” said Feingold. “Showing the people there and here that we have a sense about when it is time to leave is one of the best things we can do,” he added.

In breaking with the Administration’s strategy, Feingold joins many progressives who worry that a military escalation in Afghanistan will only lead to “further destabilization” in the region. A CNN poll recently found that nearly three quarters of self-identified Democrats now oppose the war there.

Maybe this will wake up the anti war movement who has been silent since Jan 20t of 2009.

Where are the calls for impeachment?

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

You know there are times when I really hate it when the Libtards prove me right. :thatsright:

Until I see them marching in the streets, calling for impeachment of Dear Leader, burning him in effigy, and making reference to him and his cabinet to being Hitler and Co., then this claimed 3/4ths of Dems isn't true.  They can't act one way during a Republican administration and act a different way during a Democrat administration and claim consistency.

Moonbats only come out during republican administrations....the rest of the time they hang upside down in dark caves and shit a lot.

Feingold is an idiot and so are the DUmmies but what I'm having a real tough time here is with the sense of glee many here are treating the issue.

In case some of you folks have forgotten this is a war where young Americans and brave soldiers from around the world are dying daily at the hands of sadistic sub-humans. Yes, it seems like it's all good sport to watch the liberals be hoisted on their own petard but right now the CinC is tone deaf to the GOP which means if his own base and party deserts him on the war he will withdraw our troops under fire.

Is that what we really want?

We need to think long and hard about how we want this debate framed. If you thought the debate on the Iraqi surge was bad you haven't seen anything yet. There is serious peril here folks. Let's start acting as if this shit really matters...because it does. As detestable as this sounds: We have to find Obama's spine for him and if we don't who will?

According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."
