Or Kibbles and Bits as the case may be.
Actually this happend to ME, Hubby and the Rottie.
We were fishing off a bridge in our area. After an hour the dog knew everyone and I stupid me, turned her loose.
For a few hours she meandered about smelling bait, watching people getting a pat on the head now and then.
Behind us people on bicycles zoomed past us . skate boards no problem, in line skates no problem. She introduced her 150 pounds of friendly dog to everyone and was in fact trying to herd us all into one spot to fish.
Somehow in that dog brain she got the idea that she was responsible for everyone fishing.
She went on alert as a guy on a bike crested the bridge, I tried to grab her but she was in protective mode.
Out of all the people that had biked, skated past, jogged and what not that guy was hers.
My dog took off like an ABM---target that man on the bike.
Why ????? the man was a couple hundred yards from us when her hackles begun to rise, teeth showing and ready for war.
When she struck the front wheel the man flew into the air and bike came down on my girl. She lay on her back in subservient mode for a few minutes. The rider grabbed the first man he saw and tore his shirt, I tried to call for an ambulance but the man snatched my phone and threw it over the side of the bridge, then dripping blood he peddled off cursing up a blue stream.
What was it that a few hundred people passed by that loose dog on bikes, skate boards, noise stuff jogging and pushing strollers that caused my dog to zero in and try to protect us from,? Was it smell, perhaps the bike itself was giving out unusual noise >?
We have tried to figure out her actions, a couple hours down town sitting at a table watching life go by, no problem, the out of the blue she will show her teeth at a stranger, what is dangerous about them, something caused her to go alert.
Dogs are Gods gift to man.
