Police: Clarkston Teacher Sent Sexual Photos to Student

Her resignation as a special-education teacher was effective today, the same day she was arraigned in 52-2 District Court on enticing a minor for immoral purposes and distributing sexually explicit material to a minor. The charges could imprison her for four years.

The boy told authorities on July 21 he was uneasy about the increasingly explicit nature of the texts and wanted her to stop. The boy said they did not have sex or direct conversations, sheriff's officials said.

Well according to some, your son(and  you) should be happy that he has female school teachers willing to 'teach' him about other subjects.  :whatever:

I've heard the line before...they will tell you the comparison isn't the same. In some ways it isn't, but a teacher is in a position of power whether they are male or female and putting aside sexual dynamics(there still is maturity level and responsibility of parents to that child to consider). A teacher's pool of sex partners and dating prospects should NOT be their students..period...end of story. Male TEENAGER fantasies aside, teachers should have ethical boundaries and we as adults should encourage those ethical boundaries.

And when I was in high school, several of my friends had some pretty serious fantasies about some of the male teachers.  The fact is that an adult who would have sex with a young teenager is really screwed up.  At the minimum, they are abusing a position of authority, and quite simply is committing statuatory rape.

They are not treated the same,they don't get the prison sentences that men do,they aren't beaten and killed in prison as men are sometimes and they aren't sentenced the same. I dunno.  There have been some cases where the "boy" is 16-17, and the teacher is is a teacher's aide, not much older. In those cases, it's a tough decision.  I don't think I've ever heard of a case where the student has initiated the encounters. Is that something that would be prejudicial to the prosecution?

When it comes to being a special needs person, the age shouldn't matter all when the person doing it is in a position of authority/trust to that person. That being said, most states also have it in their laws covering people in a position of authority/trust, which negates the age of consent.  Meaning that a teacher is still in trouble for having relations with a 16 or 17 year old.

They are treated the same. They get prison sentences, and they are forced to register as sex offenders, for life in some states, with severe restrictions on where they can live. Their lives are effectively ruined. When you bring in prepubescent kids and retarded kids you are talking about an entirely different matter. I am talking about these 20-something airhead Barbiesluts and normal teenage boys. The idea they should be treated like male perverts and queers, and forced to live under the laws placed on pedophiles, is absurd to me. Their conduct, and the harm it does, seems entirely different, speaking as one who once in the long ago past was a teenage boy. The law is what it is, and they know that, so I can't object to it being enforced. I just don't think it makes sense. If you think  that makes me a DUmmy, that's your prerogative.
