Health Care Stirs Up Whole Foods CEO John Mackey, Customers Boycott Organic Grocery Store
Branding Experts Say CEOs Should Stay Quiet When It Comes to Politics
By EMILY FRIEDMAN

Aug. 14, 2009 —

Joshua has been taking the bus to his local Whole Foods in New York City every five days for the past two years. This week, he said he'll go elsewhere to fulfill his fresh vegetable and organic produce needs.

"I will never shop there again," vowed Joshua, a 45-year-old blogger, who asked that his last name not be published.

Like many of his fellow health food fanatics, Joshua said he will no longer patronize the store after learning about Whole Foods Market Inc.'s CEO John Mackey's views on health care reform, which were made public this week in an op-ed piece he wrote for The Wall Street Journal.

Michael Lent, another Whole Foods enthusiast in Long Beach, Calif., told ABCNews.com that he, too, will turn to other organic groceries for his weekly shopping list.

It does seem kind of stupid for a company that depends on moonbat morons willing to pay double for their food to criticize The One.
But they have nothing to fear. The fun really starts when DUmmies try to decide on a company they can support.

2. Yep
Not buying from there anymore. Now I'm down to Wegman's and the Kingston (NJ) Amish Market.

That'll learn 'em!

But, but, but.....OH NO!!! :

20. The Amish are notorious for running puppy mills
If you aren't aware of the problem, here is some information to get you started:

This is awful! Now, if Wegman's didn't want to save Tookie, the DUmmy will starve!

4. I'm going to Whole Foods today and get about $400 worth of groceries!
Then, when it's rung up, I'll say, sorry, forgot my money, you gotta put it back.
Call your CEO and tell him he has to do it.

After years as a DUmp sweetheart, the Whole Foods dirt starts coming out:

12.  Whole Foods has fired employees that tried to start a union (R #5)
They also refused the UFW's request to stop carrying a line of beef that had fired organizers.
That is why Whole Foods has a high deductible, because they won't let their workers organize
without retaliation. EFCA NOW! Then they won't be on near minimum wage anymore.

5. Now All The RW Wacko's Will Be Shopping There In Support Of Mackey......
one will have to watch for them - if they are toting their guns - it could be a dangerous place to shop.

6. I only shopped there while my local Vons workers were on strike
And I occasionally stopped in for their prepared take-out meals which are pretty good. But Henry's & Trader
Joes are closer, Costco's meats are as good, and Vons has almost everything I need.

Okay, so Von's is OK?

No, Trader Joe is much much better than Von's:

18. Thank you for supporting our strike...
I left Vons and now work at Trader Joe's
Much much much better company
Okay, so then we're all agreed that Trader Joe's is the Official Grocer of the DUmp?

No, not quite:

46. Does TJ's have a union? One more thing:
Trader Joe's has lots of convenience food which means too much packaging. They have no bulk
items and most of their scant produce is over-packaged. They also were at the bottom of the list
for animal treatment in regards to organic dairies.

That's awful! Trader Joe is clearly a wingnut!

I would do without before going to a Wal-Mart.

Wait a minute! Would you shop at Target after what DUmmy TwixVoy went through?

48. Please tell me Trader Joe's is ok.

Trader Joe is fine if you want to support a union-busting, overpackaged,
dairy-cow-mistreating, snail-darter-eating bunch of wingnuts.

I'm confused now, where are the DUmmies supposed to shop?

I've never stepped into a Whole Foods but plan to very soon just to support the loss of ten DUmbasses.

I may be exiled from the Cave, but I actually like Whole Foods  :evillaugh:  They are pricey, but they have better produce than Trader Joes, and I like being able to buy free range meat and eggs there.  I was a vegetarian for a couple of years, but eventually decided that I like meat too much to keep it up.  I still like the idea of animals being treated well before being slaughtered though.  They also have bulk food bins, which are handy for basic staples.  Not as cheap as other places, but if you compare truly similar items (free range eggs to free range eggs, for example) the prices are pretty similar.

I've never been inside a Whole Foods Market.  This may be a good thing.  I know I like my meats in a package and my eggs in a carton.  I don't like the idea of them freely roaming all over the place.

My name is formerlurker and I shop at Whole Foods and really have no intention of stopping.

The produce is the absolute best in the area, as is the meat and fish.    They also carry this EXTREMELY addictive popcorn:

I swear the "herbal" part is a totally illegal substance because you are addicted to it from the moment you place it in your mouth.

Their vegan desserts are to die for -- especially their vegan carrot cake, and vegan chocolate cupcakes.    Their burrito/salad bar is killer also.

I am a Whole Food junkie, and am not ashamed to admit it.

  <--- I could eat that popcorn all dang day.

The nearest Whole Foods is in St. Louis, guess I'll honor the DUmmies boycott, since I won't drive that far to get groceries.  I'll stick with Walmart.

Oh for Gods sake...if I needed/wanted a particular food item I would go to the nearest store that provided it with an eye on the price.

I can`t imagine a life so obsessed with a PC thing as to make a miserable task as grocery shopping even worse.

I shop wherever I can find what I want at what I consider the best balance between price and quality. I really don't care what the politics of a store chain is or isn't when I choose to spend my money there. There is also a 'mom & pop' convenience store 2 houses down and across the street from me.

Its more of an overpriced flea market than a store, but if I need a gallon of milk or something right away, they almost always have it.

I'll stick with the buffalo ranch about 10 miles from here.  They always ruthlessly undercut Whole Foods prices, and still deliver good, grass fed buffalo.
