Do you have an ultra right wing Republican in your family? How do you deal with them?
My whole family is pretty liberal- save for my oldest brother-
Some years back, he became a born again Christian, then his politics shifted from being a moderate to being a total right wing Republican. He listens to Rush Limbaugh every day, is hardcore GW Bush fan, supports the war, hates gays and immigrants- He has really changed,, and not for the better...
I see my brother only at family gatherings- and I never discuss politics with him- as he'll go on a rant about 'the liberals' and really piss me off.
To his credit he has never tried to force Jesus on me.
Do any of you have a right wing Republican sibling, parent, child or spouse? How do you keep the peace?

I have two stark raving moonbats as brothers.  I deal with them the same way I did before I realized they were moonbats, I love them.

Most of my family is Conservative, but I have a liberal sister. We don't talk politics much since I am pretty politically plugged in and she isn't, so whenever she says "A" I usually have "B","C" through "Q" ready.  Since she admits she really can't refute it she sort of gives up.

I can't really help her see the error of her ways, but she's a reminder that more people than not don't pay close attention to politics like we do on the boards.

Yep, I have an aunt and uncle who are extremely left wing (I wonder what their DU names are?   :whatever:)

My aunt is a controlling feminazi, and my uncle is a wussy liberal who caves to her every demand.   I think he's a little less extreme than she is, because he ALWAYS likes to visit other family members when there is a family cookout.  My aunt tries to force him to eat tofu all the time, and he does what he can to eat BBQ when she's not looking.  :lmao:

Funny, after mentioning my moonbat brothers, one of my brothers called me and talked for about an hour.  I just got home from picking up my daughter from school and saw that that same moonbat brother had emailed me.  He really doesn't discuss politics with me except when he goes into his "victim mode" crap and usually I let him say what ever he wants to say and either don't comment on his political views or I say what I think with out bringing politics into it.    He isn't an a$$hole like DU'ers so I have the attitude of "let him think what he wants" and I just ignore it.  Unless he says something totally crazy then I will say something but I'm very diplomatic about it.   :innocent:

Anyway, this is what he sent me today.   :rotf:

My experience has been that conservatives never iniate political conversation at social gatherings but liberals usually do.
