I saw this discussed somewhere else before, but I can't remember where.  I never leave tips if I'm only there for one night -- I don't travel enough for it to enter my mind.  Its just not something I think about but you're a long-term guest.    Your maid probably does at least five rooms in an hour, probably more.  My guess would be $20-30 a week depending on how much work she has to do and how nice the hotel is..

Back in the day, I was a maid at a dive motel. Now this was when I was 14-16 years old. I started at $1.85/hour, I kid you not.

Getting a cash tip happened once in a blue moon and it was always appreciated. But, what really made my day was when smokes or alcohol was left behind.... good times! I'll never forget the time we were drinking Schlitz and smoking Swisher Sweets down by the creek....  :evillaugh: Memories!

That seems more like it  :rotf:

Instead of tipping, tell her you'll give her beauty tips and lessons on how to speak English.

That was pretty lame by your standards Undies.

How you been feeling lately?

Like I went into respiratory failure and heart failure, died three times, got shocked back to life three times, stayed unconscious and on a respirator for over a week, had triple bypass open heart surgery, and like they removed and then used every blood vessel in my right leg to reattach my heart to my body.....so, over all, not too bad.

I haven't had a cigarette since the 16th of July.  I will never smoke another cigarette again.  Now that's pain!    :p

I would tip $20-30 per week if she's done a good job. I've never been in this situation but that sounds like a fair amount.

Undies, I'm floored! I knew what was going on but it is shocking (no pun intended) to read it like that! Man, I'm so glad you're too onerey (sp?) to pop your clogs.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

After I "woke up" and got off the ventilator, and before my bypass three days later, I was quite the attraction in the CCICU.  I was the Miracle Man.  I wasn't suppose to live through the first night and the three heart attacks (one being MASSIVE), so to be up and sharp as a tack a week later was a big crowd drawer.  Even the paramedics had to come around to see me for themselves.

I was on every prayer list and in every prayer circle between Antarctica an the Arctic Circle.  I didn't stand a chance at dying, really.

Wow. I've been away for a kinda long time and missed a bunch it seems. Glad you didn't need my prayers buddy as you had some love to spare. God bless anyway. fwiw my pop had triple bypass 15 years ago and is going strong. (even started smoking again the lovable knucklehead) Best to the fam and friends though.

Hi BEG. I tip $3 a night but never stayed anywhere a month before. I'm pretty tidy but I do grab up all the extra soaps and shampoo's and whatnots. Even the free stuff I can't identify. (what is con-dish-o-ner??!?!)
"When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you - when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice - you may know that your society is doomed."

I would wait until the end....just in case you don't tip enough...you don't want to make them mad...they may "short sheet" the beds.

$1 per person per night is more than fair....especially since you have the "critters" there too, right.

You may want to give it to the manager so that it's split out to all that took care of your room. Otherwise, if there is more than one, which would be normal....someone could take all for themself and not share with those who shared the duties.
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate.

I gave speedos up years ago after I got confused and once put the potato down the back.
