‘Nurse Of The Year’ Charged With Never Having Been A Nurse

In a bizarre case of apparent impersonation taken to an extreme, in quest of what can only be guessed as credibility, a 56 year-old ‘nurse’ from Norwalk, Connecticut, who supposedly had been honored as the “2008 Nurse of the Year” has been charged with not being a nurse at all!

Betty. A Lichtenstein, aka Betty. A Trudel, who has been impersonating her professional profile as a registered medical health care professional, has been revealed by investigating authorities to be illegally using the “registered nurse” title.

Apparently, according to the findings of the investigation, Lichtenstein never had a license, but had not only concealed the fact, but in order to establish her (fake) credentials, she had actually staged a ‘Nurse of the Year’ award ceremony for herself, under the guise of a fictitious organization, the ‘Connecticut Nursing Association’, inviting the doctor who had employed her, and members of his staff. Apparently, she herself, footed the bill for the entire charade, that was aimed for the most part, at reinforcing their deception. Evidently, even in faking, she wasn’t content with mediocrity! ...

Unless I missed it, they didn't say how long she had been faking it. 56 years old makes me think she had been doing it for some time.

You don't achieve that level of recognition and success overnight.  I expect that she had a reasonable amount of experience as a fake nurse to make an award plausible.

The "recognition" dinner was a fake.  The organization that supposedly gave her the award doesn't exist and she paid for most of the dinner expenses (over $2K) out of her own pocket.

Which makes it all the more mind-boggling!    

I really wonder how long she had been fooling to current doctor and practice she had been working at.  Their could be a lot of liability there, as well as... well, hopefully she wasn't practicing medicine on patients to any significant extent.
