RALEIGH, N.C. — Rielle Hunter, John Edwards’ former girlfriend, slipped in the back door of the federal courthouse this morning to speak to a grand jury.

Hunter carried her daughter, Frances Quinn Hunter, who was born in February 2008. Edwards, a former senator from North Carolina, has denied being the father of Frances, though he has admitted an affair with Hunter during his failed run in 2006 for the Democratic nomination for president.

Hunter held Frances close as she followed two federal agents into the courthouse. Frances wore a bonnet and a white dress. ...

I find it quite telling that this passage doesn't appear until later in the article:

Quote
A federal grand jury is investigating whether Edwards misused campaign funds as hush money for Hunter.

If I were the writer, that would have been in the first paragraph as that information is the most important news in the story.  Journalism has sure fallen since the days that I studied it.

For example, this would have been a more proper way to write the story:

Rielle Hunter, John Edwards’ former girlfriend, slipped in the back door of the federal courthouse this morning to speak to a grand jury who is investigating whether Edwards misused campaign funds as hush money for Hunter.

I was the editor of my high school newspaper.  If you can call that "the dark side". :-)

"A federal grand jury is investigating whether Edwards misused campaign funds as hush money for Hunter."

Surely no one expected him to use "HIS" money to pay her off, did they?
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

Stupid prole.  Don't you know; your money, your neighbor's money, your parent's money... it's ALL their money.

Now shut up and get back to making them more of their money, prole.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle
