North Korea frees two U.S. journalists after Clinton visit
« on: August 04, 2009, 02:48:02 PM »

"SEOUL (Reuters) – North Korea on Tuesday released two jailed American journalists after a visit from former U.S. President Bill Clinton in the highest-level U.S. contact with North Korea since Clinton was president nearly a decade ago.
North Korea's KCNA news agency said North Korean leader Kim Jong-il had issued a special pardon to the two journalists, Euna Lee and Laura Ling of U.S. media outlet Current TV, which was co-founded by Clinton's vice president Al Gore.
Clinton was the highest-level American to visit North Korea since his secretary of state, Madeleine Albright, went there in 2000.
He was greeted warmly on his arrival and had what North Korea's KCNA news agency described as an "exhaustive conversation" over dinner with ailing North Korean leader Kim Jong-il and his top aides.
The White House denied a report by North Korea's news agency KCNA that said Clinton had carried a message to North Korea from U.S. President Barack Obama."

Doesn't anyone believe that Clenis took this trip on his own initiative? Does anyone believe that 0Bama didn't give some promise to offer Lil Ill Kim?

This thing smacks of Kim Jong Il being desperate for attention and legitimacy.

If all it takes for him to release a couple journalists is to pat him on his little head and tell him what a good boy he is, well, our problems are solved aren't they?

Bueller?

Well, they're 'sort of' free - Li'l Kim turned them over to Bill the Horn-Dog Clinton.  Not sure how "High-level" this is if he was NOT acting as anything but a private citizen, the Reuters writer doesn't seem to be able to control his Obasmic tendencies well enough to figure that out.  Of coure he did probably have some unofficial tidings from the Administration.
He owed the dopey ex-VP these two ultimately worked for anyway, Gore pretty much made himself look like a moron (An accurate picture, really) when he stuck his neck out for Bill's credibility during the sex scandal.  I suppose this balances the books with manbearpig.

Fox News is all over this....

There was a big publicity photo taken of Clinton and lil Kim seated in the front, and several other people standing behind them.

I don't think the plane has taken off the ground yet....

Bill probably figures he's got 2 hot Asian girls on his hands who'd be extremely appreciative and as a bonus, hadn't seen a man in awhile.

Oh Yes it would make no sense for Bill to go over there and come home empty handed.

So how did Bill get that assignment to go into the devils lair and rescue the two fair madens.?

Why didn't we send in Bill Gates or Jessie Jackson ?

Talk about Karma, soon Bill will be walking behind Hillery carring her purse.

Exactly. Anything we do to legitimize his regime is ultimately damaging overall. Don't get me wrong, you do what you can to free American citizens held captive by a mad dictator and I'm glad they are free however....what our govt does from this point forward is really important.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Ya can't fix stupid.

I have very limited sympathy for it myself.  E.g., the first couple of foreigners kidnapped in Beirut were a tragedy, all the ones after that were morons.

Ya can't fix stupid.

One is a producer and the other a reporter for Al Gore's network, Current TV.

They were in So Korea doing a documentary on human trafficking and were to meet someone "in secret" when they were captured for supposedly being over the boundary of No Korea.

I'm not sure it has ever been proved by someone outside of N K that they actually were inside of N K.

According to all reports...Kim would only release them with a "face to face" with Bill Clinton.

You know, now that I think of it, the woman named Ling is the sister of Lisa Ling. A reporter who went undercover in North Korea a couple of years ago and documented how dangerous it was!!!  :thatsright:

I wonder if he offered Lil' Kim some up-to-date missile or nuclear technology.  That idiot Al Gore and his ridiculous TV station should have to reimburse the government for the cost of this mess.  Those women were fools to try to sneak into North Korea.

Knowing that they worked for Al Gore, they were going to shoot a favorable propaganda story for iLL Kim.
