poll: how far away from your home is your place of work?
« on: July 29, 2009, 02:42:54 PM »
This information for purposes of market research only.

All votes are secret.

"Place of work," in the case that one works at various locations, such as in construction, is meant to mean the location of the office that sends one out all over the place, if that applies.

I absolutely HATE commuting.

If I could fall down the stairs to get to work (like I had it in Berlin for awhile some years ago), I'd love it.

As it is, it's about 8 minutes in the car, about 4 minutes on the Honda 919.

It takes longer by car than it does to walk.

My current job is about 30 miles away, however, I spend less then 8 hours a week in the office instead driving about 2500 miles a month around the state.

Good God. That schedule would have me in an insane asylum within two weeks, guaranteed.

Define Home:  Where one sleeps at night, or where one's family is?

If the first, walking distance, if the latter, 9 time zones (and where is that option in your poll?)

1-5 miles, but I class that as walking distance. It's actually about 2 1/2 miles which is about a 45 minute stroll.

3.7 miles.  I had to do it every day for a few months... it gets boring after a while.

40 miles.

When we moved here (to get closer to my stepkids), Mr Smith found a job first.  I eventually found one as close as I could get...80 miles away.  We split the difference, so we each live 40 miles from work.

Thankfully, we have now have a radio station that airs a Bible study every morning, so at least 1/2 the commute is productive.

Ummm....there's not a choice of working at home.

My office is on the second floor of our house. I look out at trees and the top of the pool hut. I can work in jammies and no makeup... :-)

My brokerage office is a ten minute drive....about 5 miles if that. I may go 2-3 weeks or more without going into the office.

My home is my place of work.

Up until my mother in law passed away it was on the second floor but now it's back downstairs.

25 years ago we had Ronald Reagan, Johnny Cash and Bob Hope.  Now we have Obama, no hope and no cash.
