NAPLES, Fla., Jul. 22, 2009

(AP)  Florida officials have arrested a woman for allegedly practicing dentistry in a garage she converted into an office with a drill set and black reclining chair. Rosa Maria Toledo, 56, was arrested Tuesday. In her garage deputies found a cabinet containing dental castings, molds, dental crown glues, partial dentures and bridges.

They said she had a ledger containing information for hundreds of patients. Deputies said they had information she had practiced as a dentist in Mexico before moving to the U.S.

Toledo was charged with practicing dental hygiene without an active license and being a non-licensed person leasing or operating dental equipment.

For years "Elephant" practiced dentistry every Saturday night down at the old C&H Club. It is said that C&H stood for Cut & Hit.

Illegal immigrant? Florida must have a shortage of dentists, didn't they have a guy that was working out of the back of his truck?

Not unusual here...or even places like NYC where there are quite a few doctors [in their country] that either don't have the desire or means to get a U.S. medical degree...therefore; illegals, or people with no insurance use them instead of going to US doctors/dentists.
