I believe Obama was referring to his own comments towards the officer and police forth, when he stated they were acting stupidly.  As he immediately followed up with an assertion that they still did wrong, he just shouldn't have called them stupid.

Looking at China today, I can understand how he reacted to civilized slavery from millions of people.

Strange that the decedents of slaves never gather and give thanks to the Union troops, strange that some people ignore the blood pain and death of half a million people to release them from their bonds.

This gets me on a roll,  Why do we not have a huge monument to the civil war that also shows the achievements of former slaves, shows America how the loss of white blood caused the achievements of the black and made America what it is.

All that carnage led to the black race inventing and engineering ingenious designs. becoming educated, and making America the leader in the free world.

Why are some blacks not out there tooting their horn about how their Ancestors have benefited America.

My guess on this Gates fellow was he saw too much in China, began to rethink his teachings and was Wowed by a people that live a life today much worse then his ancestor slaves ever lived.

So he Snapped, got belligerent with the cops he has dealt without his whole life.

Perhaps he just had a melt down to due to the conditions he saw in China.

and my childhood actually sucked. So what? There is something to be said for self-control, vesta. I'm sure I've endured a hell of a lot more then some of the blacks who have reached a more priveleged status, yet I don't get belligerant with law enforcement when I deal with them having visions of my domineering father with each police officer I encounter . I would think a man who is a Harvard scholar should be capable of controlling himself and also the intelligence to understand that a mixup may have happen given he was prying a back door open. Seems he lacks both patience and self-control, likely because of the large big "I am black and think everything that goes wrong in my life is related to that" chip on his shoulder. What that makes him is little more then a book-learned thug with no real class except what his money bought him. What has always amazed me about blacks in this position is how they demean themselves by behaving like a petty ghetto crook and living down to the stereotype they profess to say is just a stereotype. If you want respect it is earned. Having a crap fit over an obvious misunderstanding doesn't earn one respect.

BTW, what does that say of the President that he would automatically side with the black man in the situation without knowing the details? At the very least, it certainly shows he has a racial preference. I don't happen to care if it does not influence the decisions he makes as a president, but in this case it did: he could have cost this police officer his career because of his racial bias. Again, even liberals should be able to figure this one out.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — A black police officer who was at Henry Louis Gates Jr.'s home when the black Harvard scholar was arrested says he fully supports how his white fellow officer handled the situation.

Sgt. Leon Lashley says Gates was probably tired and surprised when Sgt. James Crowley demanded identification from him as officers investigated a report of a burglary. Lashley says Gates' reaction to Crowley was "a little bit stranger than it should have been."

Asked if Gates should have been arrested, Lashley said supported Crowley "100 percent."

Cambridge Police Release 911 Tape and Radio Dispatches of Gates' Arrest

The Cambridge Police Department today released the 911 tape and radio dispatches in the arrest of Henry Louis Gates Jr., in which the police are heard saying that the "gentlemen says he resides here" and is uncooperative, and advises to keep the backup cars coming. In the 911 call, a woman -- identified in the media as Lucia Whalen -- reports seeing two men break the screen door of Gates' front entrance to enter the house.
