I just got home from work, and will be typing up the first page of a short essay about a pilgrimage (can't be well-known) for my cultural geography class.

I have no clue what I will be doing for dinner.  I am so tired, I may just eat some cereal.

TOTD:  Most interesting person I've ever met?  Hmmmm.  Don't really have one that I would consider interesting enough.  :(

Got a hot date with the b/f tonight.  He's taking me to the coliseum for the Toyota AMA Arenacross motorcycle races.  I've never been but he assures me it'll be loud but fun.

TOTD:  I never knew my grandfathers (their loss not mine) but I did have the chance to get acquainted with a gentleman when I was a teenager who I thought was an amazing man.  In his early 80's this man was a walking history book in my eyes.  He would tell me stories of his adventures in Germany in WW2, stories of famous local people and their scandals and about how things were back when he was a child.  He was an excellent cook and on occasion, I still fix his open faced cheese sandwich (delicious!).  My only regret was that at 16-17 all I really cared about was boys and partying.  <sigh>

TOTD:Kind of hard to answer but first would be my father.
He was born in 1905 and his father in 1850.
Died in 1995 so had knowledge either first or second hand of much of our history.
I learned politics and how life worked from him and like many, wish now I had listened to some of his what seemed at the time meaningless and mundane stories of his experiences.

The second that comes to mind was a neighbor that was a WWII vet.
He was at Iwo Jima, his duties being part of the crew of the small craft that transported soldiers ashore.
There was great pride in what they accomplished and while he was a democrat there was no party politics involved in doing what was right for the country and the world.

Just got back from a party for a freind in church, kinda boring.  Later on, my hubby is taking me out to dinner at Marie Calander's, they have the bomb corn bread there.

TOTD: My grandfather who was in Italy during WWII. He was really an awesome guy, worked for the DOD during Vietnam and really loved his country. He taught me how to spit when I was a little girl much to the chagrin of my proper Southern grandmother. :-) He died a few years ago. I miss him. :(
