Many people were ready for the Crocs trend to be over even before the shoes hit stores in 2002.
Blogs were launched that attacked the shoe company for its colorful $30 foam footwear. Maxim even named Crocs one of the “10 Worst Things to Happen to Men in 2007.”
Well, it looks like the end of Crocs might finally be here.
In 2007, Crocs boasted a profit of $168.2 million. In just one year, the company found itself struggling with debt, The Washington Post reports. It lost $185.1 million and cut 2,000 jobs while its stock price fell 76 percent.
Now, the company has until September to pay back its losses. But as people continue to throw their Crocs in the back of the closet, the company is left with a surplus of shoes and little consumer interest.
"The company is toast," Damon Vickers, manager of an investment fund at Nine Points Capital Partners in Seattle, told The Washington Post. "They're zombie-ish. They're dead and they don't know it."

I must go and stock up before they disappear, otherwise I'll be doing the gardening bare foot.

Ditto... I think they're about as biodegradable as a Dodge Neon.  People will dig them out of landfills millenia from now and assume the human race forgot how to tie shoelaces.  I did see chefs and cooks wearing the closed-toe loafer variety.  They're greaseproof, which is great in a professional kitchen where the floors are almost always slippery.

I agree...they've been around for years to to WORK IN THE GARDEN! I was astonished when people started wearing them in public as well normal shoes, but then some will say I have a pickiness about things like wearing one's pajama pants out in public too.  :shucks: :-)

And for the record those Ugg boots a few years back that were all fuzzy and furry were the ugliest shoes ever. I think some women on a scrapbooking list I was one were going to take pitchforks to me when I dissed the Ugg.  :-)

Actually, what I'm seeing is, "Economic Crisis--Who's to Blame?"

Either way, funny as hell.  And no, I have testicles and I like women, so I do not own crocs.

Yes, they are ugly but very comfy if you need to run to the store or walk the dog. I am back in flip flops and I just got them broken into where they are comfy. When you can't see your feet, you take what you can get.
