Another Nuclear FUBAR At Minot AFB

The nuclear mission should be handed over solely to the U.S. Navy and their boomers since those in the air farce have shown they cannot be trusted with nuclear weapons.  The boomers are fast, quiet, and hard to find and aren't sitting duck targets like land-based systems.

Tell me again WHY we even have an air farce?  Isn't it time to reconsider rolling back the National Security Act of 1947 and put the air farce back under the U.S. Army?  Just think the Army could teach the jetters how to provide ACCURATE close air support to them just like that enjoyed by the Marines.

I have a DAMNED good reason for despising the service branch I once served in for 20 years.

During Desert Storm, I almost lost a nephew who happened to be a MARINE.  He was in a column traveling away from the border when an A-10 jock blew the shit out of the column.  One of his best friends lost an arm.  Is it no wonder that the Marines PREFER close air support from their own?

Shortly afterwards I submitted my retirement paperwork and I never looked back.

How does one go about telling your own family that the service branch you served in was responsible for the death of another family member?  I didn't want to have to deal with that.

And the beauty of it all, the air farce has only gotten WORSE over the intervening years.  This makes the 3rd nuclear FUBAR at Minot in the past few years.  Evidently it didn't do any damned good for those squadron commanders and other senior officers to get shitcanned because of the previous incidents.

In all the years I served in SAC, such FUBARS were very few and very far between because the personnel were true professionals.

Y'know, while the Navy has only lost two nuke subs and neither one was a boomer, not all their nukes are on boomers.  I'll just leave it at that.

We have an atomic bomb right under the depths and sediment at the mouth of the Savannah River that was dropped mistakenly by a B-47 Stratojet.

...but BSR, you should really stop trashing your own service. It's not like the Army doesn't have their own share of f'ups. Matter of fact, name me one branch who doesn't and I'll show you a branch who is involved with some major coverups. F'ups happen. We're human.
NAMBLA is a left-wing organization.

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

When our youngest son began talking about joining the military upon graduation early last year, sink-wife wanted him to join the air farce and I adomently opposed the idea and encouraged him to choose the Army or even the Coast Guard, ANYTHING BUT the air farce.  He opted to join the Army Reserves.

BSR - would you mind terribly not referring to the U.S. Air Force as "air farce"? That's disrespectful. There are simply too many honorable men and women who serve in the Air Force to paint it with that kind of brush.

Your experience may have been less than satisfactory to you, but showing the kind of disrespect that you do is really reflective of your own bitterness, anger, and self-righteousness.

Give it a rest. Please.
