Al-Qaeda vows revenge on China after riots

Osama bin Laden’s Al-Qaeda network has taken up the cause of China’s Muslim Uighur minority with a pledge to attack Chinese workers in northwestern Africa in retaliation for mistreatment by Beijing of its largest Muslim minority.

Al-Qaeda's Algerian-based offshoot, al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), has issued the call for vengeance, according to the South China Morning Post, which quoted an intelligence report from the London-based risk analysis firm Stirling Assynt.

It would be the first time that bin Laden’s organisation has threatened China or its interests — underlying the risks Beijing faces as it expands its economic investments overseas.

The assessment by Sterling Assynt warned that the threat should be taken seriously and said: “Although AQIM appear to be the first arm of al-Qaeda to officially state they will target Chinese interests, others are likely to follow." ....

Actually, they are not restricted by anything. These are the people who make their prisoners organ donors--whether the donors are ready to donate or not. Al-Q may be about to meet an opponent as ruthless as they are.

I don't think the chinese would bat an eye at using a nuke on them.  What is the world going to do to China if they did, NOT A GOD DAMNED THING.

The Maneuvering Room (more like a box with panels) on a submarine is a very interesting place, particularly on the midwatch after having been out for 50-60 days.  The conversations were, shall we say, interesting at times.  We figured out once that if we actually nuked the 1000 largest Chinese cities, you'd still have something like 700 million Chinese left.  Needless to say, not good odds for the guys in the white hats, so to speak.

This could get real interesting.  Of course there is no concentrated target for the Chinese to nuke, so that's just silly; and they aren't going to nuke Mecca, they are every bit as dependent on that Saudi/Gulf oil flowing as we are.  Conventionally, the Chinese military has never been expeditionary (In the sense of going anywhere they couldn't just drive or walk to).  AQ can hurt them, but not mortally; they can kill AQ members, but can't wipe them out.  It could last quite awhile and never produce decisive results either way.
