Burris not running, can't raise money.

Sen. Roland Burris of Illinois, who was appointed last year to replace President Obama in the Senate, has decided he won't run in next year's election, after his Senate service was clouded by controversy, FOX News has confirmed.

Burris plans a formal announcement Friday in Chicago.

Burris reportedly reached his decision after struggling to raise campaign funds -- an estimated $20,000 so far, with campaign disclosures with the Federal Election Commission expected to be filed next week.

A source told the Chicago Sun-Times that Burris has been very concerned about his legacy.

"After 20 years in government service, Burris didn't want the last four months in office to be that legacy," the source said.

Sadly, he will still recieve his salary and health care for life. Our way of taking care of the Crooks in WASHINGTON.

Actually no.....If I'm not mistaken, he has to serve one full six year term in the Senate before he is eligible for full benefits.

In the house, I think one has to serve two terms for eligibility.......

I think you're right, doc, but Burris gets to croak with the "Senator" handle on his freakin' mausoleum. I think that's all he was really after from the get-go.

Yeah....but outside of south Chicago, no one knew him before his appointment, and after he leaves the Senate, no one will know he was ever there.....his sole purpose was to keep the seat "warm" for the Chicago machine until the heat dies down in Illinois to the point where the voters won"t elect a Republican just out of spite......Blago though is another story entirely.....
