My old boss, Bob McNamara died last night at 92. Why do bad people live such long lives?

I worked for him for a few years. This was me, back then.

58,000 American lives lost there. Countless lost souls still living here. And the untold number of Southeast Asians dead as a result of it all.

Yeah, I've always wondered by people such as Jimmy Carter, Vast Teddy, Walter Cronkite, Stalin, Ulbricht, Brezhnev, Uncle Ho, Fidel, Mao Tse-tung, &c., &c., &c. live, or lived, such long lives too.

Anyway.

6. Indeed, I was to Tidewater

One of my shipmates was from Chesapeake. We often went to his house on weekends (much closer to our homeport in Charleston than was my house.)

We often hung around trolling for cuties at ODC.

35. Yes, I've seen the documentary

Back in the day, McNamara was part of a group that Kennedy pulled together that (the press?) named "The Whiz Kids". They were portrayed as this incredible brain trust. McNamara slid on into the Johnson administration. The war was well sold to many of us - surely to me. I volunteered for the Navy.

If you read this as me having somehow worked directly for or close to McNamara, I didn't mean to mislead. It was simply a smart-assed headline. He was my boss only in the sense that Rumsfled was the boss for the guys who invaded Iraq.

I was a sailor on a minesweeper in Charleston, SC.

after which a photograph of a small ship suspiciously named "509;" was that a PT boat, perhaps?

But these days it's because he wears two different color shoes. Seriously. He got a pair of light green and then another that's yellow (because they didn't have pink). He wears green on one foot and yellow on the other. If anyone mentions it, he says, "Yeah, I got another pair just like 'em at home, only reversed."

I thought the inappropriate T-shirts were bad enough. It seems the more embarrassed I am, the more he does such things. :sigh:

I'm typing in the dark here, and as you already know, madam, unlike the blue cities and blue states, it gets dark out here, showing millions and millions of stars invisible to the primitives.

Yep Norfolk is pretty liberal.
