While it would be nice IF all nations were to get rid of nuclear weapons, the realist in me says they won't. With that in mind, we need to keep our MAD capabilities. He is just absurdly stupid in his sentiments. His idiocy would bring about the fall of the US.

"Yes" to answer your question about stupid.  He is also against nuclear power, not just nuclear weapons. 

My oldest son, almost 25 years ago now, graduated second in his class at the Naval Academy.  They sent him to MIT where he got his master's degree in nuclear engineering with straight "A's".  He then spent a good bit of time sleeping right next to a nuclear reactor in a submarine all over the world.  He has made it very clear to me that the 40 year old arguements against nuclear power are history, all problems have been solved and he had absolutely no fear sleeping next to the reactor, and 25 years later he is just fine.  Folks do not realize that they fire up a nuclear power aircraft carrier, it is good to go for at least 20 years.  I suspect my son is a whole lot smarter about nuclear that anyone in the current administration.

BO and his fear mongers are doing all they can to destroy this country, they do not want to have anything to do with facts.  When it comes to the military, their role and capabilities, he wants to know only enough so he can neuter them.

Wanna aske me how I really feel?

On a curious note, NOT that by any means do I agree with Obama on this.

Excluding our former policy of M.A.D. with the Soviet Union.  Do you think that our massive stockpile of nuclear weaponry is really a deterrent.  Particularly for a rogue state such as North Korea or Iran, or organizations like the Taliban or Detroit City Council? 

I can understand our nuclear stockpiles being a deterrent for Russia or say China.  But, I honestly wonder, what if any deterrent it would be to those most wanting the technology or likely to use it.  Such as Iran and North Korea.
