Saudi's Give Nod To Israel To Use Their Airspace For Strike On Iran

The head of Mossad, Israel’s overseas intelligence service, has assured Benjamin Netanyahu, its prime minister, that Saudi Arabia would turn a blind eye to Israeli jets flying over the kingdom during any future raid on Iran’s nuclear sites.

Earlier this year Meir Dagan, Mossad’s director since 2002, held secret talks with Saudi officials to discuss the possibility.

The Israeli press has already carried unconfirmed reports that high-ranking officials, including Ehud Olmert, the former prime minister, held meetings with Saudi colleagues. The reports were denied by Saudi officials.

“The Saudis have tacitly agreed to the Israeli air force flying through their airspace on a mission which is supposed to be in the common interests of both Israel and Saudi Arabia,” a diplomatic source said last week.

Although the countries have no formal diplomatic relations, an Israeli defence source confirmed that Mossad maintained “working relations” with the Saudis.

John Bolton, the former US ambassador to the United Nations who recently visited the Gulf, said it was “entirely logical” for the Israelis to use Saudi airspace.

Anyone else think Arabs don't want Persians to have a nuke?  The Saudis know they don't want a neighbor who likes to saber rattle and has a special weapon, but they also don't want to get their hands dirty.  Israel is better off with this announcement, also, since the Saudis proclaim themselves "defenders of the faith" there can't be any  about an attack on Islam with their tacit approval.  There will be some, though.

The Syrians are making friendly sounds too.

Thou thinkest that the Syrians know that, with their alliance with Iran, any nuclear attack by Iran against Israel will more than likely cause Israel to target Damascus with at least one nuke.

If Syria truly wants to help, they can turn over, to the U.S., the Iraqi military personnel and the Iraqi WMDs they are guarding in those bunkers in the Syrian desert.  Just imagine the consternation of the Bush-haters when those WMDs finally make an appearance and it is discovered that Sodom Insane did ship his WMD out of his country on the eve of OIF.
