Poll: do you ignore certain topics on Skins's island?
« on: July 04, 2009, 04:18:17 PM »
The bonfires about Sarah Palin burning on Skins's island got me to thinking.

In case no one's noticed, franksolich has not posted a single bonfire about Sarah Palin, even though that at the moment is the raging issue among the primitives.

Just as franksolich never posted a single bonfire about the governor of South Carolina, or the stolen senatorial election in Minnesota, or whatever issue of the day the primitives jibber-jabber about.

The primitive bonfires and comments are so predictable they're not worth loading into the boat and bringing over here.

On a related matter, I tend to avoid the gayiety forum, and the 9-11 forum and the astrology forum, again mostly because the primitives are too predictable in their bonfies and comments.

I do not discourage anybody from posting bonfires about the primitive issue of the day, or from certain forums; in fact, I encourage it, as it adds much to the quality of the DUmpster.

I'm just describing my personal choices here, my personal preferences.

More so than to members here, this is a "message" for lurking primitives; if one wishs fame and notoriety as a result of being exhibited here, such primitives need to post things unusual and remarkable, not run-of-the-mill primitivity.

We need better, and more, material than what the primitives have been producing.

You expect to much of the DUmmies....why just look at their choice of a leader.

One problem may be that to many of them have been run over by the bus.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

besides searching for my own name/handle at DU I really avoid it. I depend on CC for that.

Have you ever found "FGL," or are you talking about your mole there?

My mole has a low profile over there; it exists for the basic purpose of getting on primitive personal-messages lists.  I'm sure that my fellow alum Skins knows who I am, but because the mole causes him no grief, he lets it be.

As for finding "franksolich" mentioned on Skins's island, I am truly disappointed.  I think there's circa 288 mentions, from the past five years; that's really pathetic, and wounds my soul, bleeds my heart.

Other than three of them, I don't think the primitives pay the least bit of attention to franksolich.  And it's truly saddening.

I avoid the truly insane sections. Takes a nanosecond that way. :-)

In all seriousness, I avoid the raging bonfires that all harp on the same theme (Palin, etc...) because it's just more of the same. I do depend on the DUmpster for bringing me the most enlightening posts though.

To those of you who do troll the DUmp, my hat is off to you. Keep doing what you're doing. I love it.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Count me in the "I don't go there" department.

I have enough to do than to watch real live examples of idiocy.

I rarely get out the boat and row over to the island of hate. I do occasionally, just to verify the remarks I read here. Sometimes it is just beyond belief that a group of adults can be that frikkin' STUPID!!!!!!!!!

I try and mix it up. I also try and not to use the same DUmmies over and over again. Hard to do at times.

I don't avoid topics, but I really don't go over there a whole lot. I'll follow links from here sometimes, and while there, scan topic titles in GD, GD:PRES, and LBN, and check a couple threads that intuition tells me could be juicy. Sometimes I'll even strike gold and bring one back with me. But I try not to put too much time into the DUmp.

I ignore most of the island. Its either too dull, or predictable.
