Went to our little town's Tea Party today in front of the courthouse, noon until 2:00 pm. About 300 people like just like last time. Now all this speech making took place right in front of the old Confederate soldiers monument. Good crowd in my opinion but fewer speakers. Now about those speakers, 2 of them were black...not half black like our president. I'm talking BLACK. They gave short, sweet, to the point speeches that had the crowd clapping and yelling like you ain't never heard from reserved, gentile, southern white folks. They both wanted the crowd to know they were just common, everyday, hard working, FELLOW AMERICANS, first, last and always that were just as concerned as everyone else with the course America is taking. Although the county is 40% black, these fellows and a couple more were the only blacks there......Oh, and another thing, the MC offered the mike to any politicians that were there so they could say a few words. One state senator (repub) said a few words, no other takers because all our county officials and politicians are democrats. They're usually at every event, shaking hands and yak-yak-yaking. They didn't have the nerve to show up at this event......

Son and I were the last to leave.
I got an email lastweek from the Scout Master of my sons troop saying that the Boy Scout District Manager(?) wanted volunteers to be in the color guard and post the colors....son jumped at the chance.....Wednesday I get an email from sons Scout Master saying my son was selected along with another boy from our troop. Two Scout Masters and two other Scouts from another troop were supposed to ramrod the thing and be part of it also. Our Scout Master was going to be out of town so it was all good. They wanted to use our flags and stands so I went by yesterday and picked them up. We were supposed to meet at the courthouse at 11:30 for a little rehearsal. We got there at 11:15 and started looking for Boy Scouts.....none no where....At 11:45 I spotted an old Scout Master from our troop that was also supposed to be out of town. We got together and ran our 2 Scouts through a quick little rehearsal....they were going to approach the stand from either side of the stand, halt, left/right face, step forward, post the colors, step back and salute and say the Pledge. Had them in place well before 12:00....ready to go....12:05 the 2 Scout Masters show up with no Scouts and they fall in behind our Scouts....won't take instructions on how it's all going to go down .....screw up a good ceremony. It looks bad when a 12 year old and a 14 year old show up what's supposed to be their leaders.
Several of the older folks that were there came by after the event to say thanks and make good comments to my son and the other Scout. My sons head and smile were so big when we left I didn't think it was going to fit in the pickup.....
