Anguish over aborting her twins drove young artist to kill herself

talented artist hanged herself because she was overcome with grief after aborting her twins, an inquest heard yesterday.

Emma Beck, 30, left a note saying: "Living is hell for me. I should never have had an abortion.


"I see now I would have been a good mum. I told everyone I didn't want to do it, even at the hospital."


"I was frightened, now it is too late. I died when my babies died.


"I want to be with my babies - they need me, no one else does."

Yesterday an inquest heard that in the run-up to the termination Miss Beck discussed it with her GP, who described her as "extremely vulnerable".

She missed one hospital appointment and cancelled another before finally seeing a doctor at Treliske hospital in Truro, Cornwall.


But the counsellor at the unplanned pregnancy clinic was on holiday, so the doctor gave her the number of a "telephone pregnancy counselling service".

Eight days later, in September 2006, the same doctor performed the termination.


In February the following year, the night before her 31st birthday, Miss Beck hanged herself at her home in Helston.

Wow... heartbreaking isn't the word for it. While this is an extreme case. . .it should be pointed out whenever some other person says that there isn't psychological damage from an abortion.

And in their zeal to protect the right to "choose", the abortionists have prevented us from counseling women against abortion (at least they try). Clearly this woman was distraught and in need of some counseling. She would have more than likely adjusted and went on to carry her babies to term thereby sparing three lives. But no, the abortionists don't want to hear about these cases. It goes against their belief in unfettered access.

Doesn't it ring off alarm bells with the abortionists that a woman needs to mentally block out her emotions to commit this vile act of murder? If it were just a medical procedure to remove a clump of cells, cases like this wouldn't happen. More intellectual dishonesty from the liberal left. The have to de-humanize the process to stomach it.

If it weren't for fundies spreading their mysogynist hate propaganda women would have no reason to begin feeling guilty over having an abortion. This is just more christian psychological abuse of women and the government needs to put an end to it.
