One Child Found Alive in Indian Ocean Jet Crash

SAN'A, Yemen —  A passenger jet from Yemen with 153 people on board crashed in the Indian Ocean early Tuesday as it tried to land during heavy wind on the island nation of Comoros, a Yemeni aviation official said.

A Comoros police official said one toddler has been rescued alive from the sea. Bodies were spotted floating in the ocean and the police official said three had been recovered so far.

Yemeni civil aviation deputy chief Mohammed Abdul Qader said there were 142 passengers and a crew of 11 Yemenis on board when the plane, which had set off from the Yemeni capital of San'a, went down before landing in Moroni, on the main island of Grand Comore.

France's transport minister says French aviation inspectors found a "number of faults" during a 2007 inspection of a plane that has crashed in the Indian Ocean. ...

It looks like a lot of the passengers were young families returning home for the school summer vacation.  RIP all.

Is it me, or has been there a major increase in the number of FRENCH-made aircraft crashing lately?

Kinda makes a person want to double-check their flight itinerary to determine who made the plane they are scheduled to fly on at various segments of their travels.

At first I was a "If it's not BOEING, I'm not going" kind of guy simply because I worked for the company.  Then I actually had the opportunity to fly the competition (in order to take my new bride up to a reception in Washington State with my family) and I saw the kind of crap that Airbus put in the air.

Boeing isn't perfect by any means, but I feel more comfortable with Boeing's version of "acceptable" than with Airbus'.

I have worked on both products. When you have the interior stripped out so you can inspect Airbus is like crepe paper and balsa wood compared to Boeing. Boeing aircraft are built like a tank.
