Convicted Detroit City Council President Pro Tem Monica Conyers has resigned effective July 6.

A member of Conyers’ staff handed the two-sentence resignation letter at 11:52 a.m. to Deputy City Clerk Vivian Hudson in the Clerk’s Office on the second floor of the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center.

Conyers’ resignation comes after her Friday guilty plea in U.S. District Court to a felony charge of accepting a bribe in exchange for a yes vote on the $1.2 billion Synagro Technologies sewage sludge recycling contract and other unspecified actions while a member of one of the city’s pension boards. It also ends perhaps the most turbulent tenure for a council member in memory.

2. I have wondered
if this wasn't tied in somehow to Congressman Conyer's lack of real action in going after Bushco.

Assuming she gets off with probation or some other hometown-referee pranks keep her out of doing any actual time, I expect her next stop will be on either the Congressional payroll as a staffer for him or a paid position on his re-election committee/PAC.

No, but there is a good chance that this has something to do with Conyers backing down on probing ACORN. Effing DUmmie came close to realizing who the real thugs are in Washington.

I actually thought it might be more in line with why "The Powers That Be" stopped him from going after ACORN aka Community Organizers International.....

Let's play guess the criminal's political party affiliation game?
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

You're gonna be really hard pressed to find anybody in power office in Detroit that isn't a Dem.

Of course, I know your question was rhetorical, but I couldn't help responding.  :-)

Naw, Jessie will find a position for another crooked, convicted politician.
