"DUBAI (Reuters) - If it were in a position to do so, Al Qaeda would use Pakistan's nuclear weapons in its fight against the United States, a top leader of the group said in remarks aired Sunday.

Pakistan has been battling al Qaeda's Taliban allies in the Swat Valley since April after their thrust into a district 100 km (60 miles) northwest of the capital raised fears the nuclear-armed country could slowly slip into militant hands.

"God willing, the nuclear weapons will not fall into the hands of the Americans and the mujahideen would take them and use them against the Americans," Mustafa Abu al-Yazid, the leader of al Qaeda's in Afghanistan, said in an interview with Al Jazeera television.

Abu al-Yazid was responding to a question about U.S. safeguards to seize control over Pakistan's nuclear weapons in case Islamist fighters came close to doing so.

"We expect that the Pakistani army would be defeated (in Swat) ... and that would be its end everywhere, God willing." Link

I don't know about anyone else, but I would have to say that for me, that is one of the most unsurprising tidbits of information ever to see print.

Fortunately for us, the Paki missiles can't reach the US, sucks to be US allies, (do we have any left), that are in range.

That particular missle could likely be launched from the deck of a large freighter or container ship that was outfitted to do so, by a bunch of fanatics with the funds and know how..........just because a launch vehicle has intermediate range, doesn't necessarily make them less dangerous to us here.......

Doc, cruse missile from 300 miles off shore. How does the Obama Admin. get the intel it needs to stop this. without waderboarding, the deadly caterpiller , the hollow wall, and the halitosis "tortures"?

Is it possible that Obama and co are so lacking in perspective that they do not see this? Or are they hoping for aN 8 year gap, as between the attacks on the WTC? This is not a good time to have a face man in the WH..

Obama is over his head. The man has never ran a business, or even an office. He's never had to make a real decision that's his and his alone. He will not react, until he See's which way the wind is blowing, and usually it will be to late.
