Finally Friday
« on: June 19, 2009, 06:30:41 AM »
Got home last night to discover the power had been out at some point during the day.  Reset all the clocks and make sure no food was spoiled.

During the night, the dog howled.  I mean HOWLED, bay-at-the-moon type stuff.  He's NEVER done that before, let alone waking me out of a dead sleep at 12:30 am--although he has woken me up during the night more than once.  I figured he was at the window and heard another dog or something, but noooooooooo...he was flat out on the floor, having a dream.  Oh, great.

And my day has gone pretty much the same direction from there.  Still cloudy/raining, expected high of around 64, another 1-2 inches of rain.  Taking dog to kennel and getting me/house ready to fly to AZ tomorrow.  Waking up at 3:30 to get to Logan by 6:30, 8 am flight out.

Saw the weatherman about 6 this morning, he says it's going to be 102 today.....
I'll be back in about lunchtime and in front of the airconditioner if you need me.

Well it will be a grand day of carpet cleaning and painting since the kids will be at their aunt's overnight.

Just waiting for the storm to pass to go and get a machine(my other one broke--in less then a year :censored:).

Half day of work for me (paid work that is), then off to help load a moving truck.  3 hr drive tomorrow morning....then unloading/unpacking jr's stuff.  Home Sunday to collapse.

Let's see...

Dog to the kennel, pharmacy for refills, post office, health club, laundry, check in for flight online, get my kid his alergy shot and maybe sit and catch my breath around 6pm tonight.

We fly out tomorrow morning for DC! :yahoo:

My Mancub is totally awed that we will be flying first class tomorrow. (It was actually cheaper with the flights and the miles I traded in, lol.) I think he thinks there will be clowns and dancing bears.

Ah hell.

I gotta go start my day.

I miss the girls.  I am sleeping like crap without my wife here. I rolled over this morning and hugged her pillow because it smelled like her.
And my eldest has been cool to hang out with this summer so far.

Grump.

At least I can roll over and hug the real thing tomorrow at some point. :)

Supposed to be sunny for most of the day.  Might stay and watch the first practice my son has today (he has 2 a day) just to see how things are going.  My daughter is at her friend's for the day...will pick her up from church at 11 tonight.

Still dealing with car crap.  Chevy people say they will split the cost of fixing the back hatch/glass issue, but will still cost us close to 1000 bucks.  Some weld spots by the hinge for the glass broke, and the whole back door is tweaked.

Gotta do some general cleaning and laundry today, but that's about it.

TGIF!!!!

I'm testing for my next Karate belt tonight, and I am mildly freaked out.  The people I thought I would be testing with aren't free tonight, so they will be taking the make up test on Monday.  I'm praying that I have somebody to test with just because it would be super intimidating to be up there by myself.

Insane amounts of work today, and I'm heading to Grandparent's house tomorrow.  That is always enjoyable, and somebody else is driving so I can knit in the car while my parents and my aunt catch each other up on gossip.  My aunt always have the best family gossip  :naughty:

Oh well...so much for that. One of my kids is puking sick which means I also won't get my workouts in the next two days in addition to the cleaning I had planned. I swear my luck totally ****ing sucks. :censored: I was really looking forward to the break from the kids too even though I was going to be working the entire time.  :banghead:

Half day of work (another 50 minutes to go), then off to Orscheln's to inquire about "nonionic surfactant" which, when combined with aquatic herbicide, will do an effective job of killing the cattails in our lagoon.

No, this isn't the type of lagoon seen in Gilligan's Island. This is the type of lagoon you really don't wanna go near if you can help it.

I ordered a pair of waders because I'll actually have to wade into that mess to do what needs to be done. Oh joy. Afterwards, I'll get a tetanus shot and vaccination against typhoid and dysentery.

After that, it's 5.5 hours of yard work in 95-degree heat with 95% humidity.

If I survive that, it's piano, euph, and bass trombone practice. The new Hanon piano book came in yesterday. I looked at it. Holy shit.... :therock:

Wish me luck.

Ummm, I'd check on state laws regarding cattails. Some states prohibit their eradication, even IF on private property. (Something about some wetlands preservation act). The fines can be hefty.

My mother woke up about a week ago to hear her cat hissing and screaming. My mom quickly got up and seen what the problem was. A stray cat was in the house eating the cat food. It must of came in when she was carrying in groceries from the car to the house & had the door open!

It's 89 outside and not even noon yet, today will be the first day in June for us to hit 100. I've already spent part of the morning gambling as I now try to get ready for a busy afternoon at work. Of course I did not quit while I was ahead, and the morning cost me $30. That included breakfast & tip...I had fun and it kept my mind off things for a while.

My mom is headed to Las Vegas for a CT scan of her lung, the doctor seen a spot in an x-ray. A friend is going with that has family to pick up at the airport.

I'm praying for good news.

I have two female friends that want to come visit for a week. My dilemma is that they both want to visit in August, and that creates a 25% chance that they might both pick the same week. Throw in the local part time girlfriend and I really could have a mess.  I still need to turn in my vacation schedule at work. The goal is for the three of them to never know about each other.

While I would be inclined to agree, there are always nosy neighbors, game wardens, eco-nazis and such. It'd be really messed up if Eupher were convicted of a felony due to some stupid shit like that. I'm all in favor of what one wants to do to their own property should be allowed.

Did you try to claim the glass under your vehcile insurance? That could be an option.

Our share of the cost of the glass alone is like 475...our insurnace deductalbe is 500, so it doesn't make sense to make a claim for just the glass.  The rest of if has to be fixed, too, and insurance won't cover that.

Piers Gaveston, the disturbingly open homosexual lover of King Edward II of England, is beheaded after he attempted to return to Edward's side. For a time Gaveston was ward of the underage boy before the death of his father Edward I, to the great dismay of many important lords. After succession to king, Edward appointed Gaveston as Earl of Cornwall for no other reason than being the king's personal cornhole.

The Federal Communications Commission, perhaps the most wicked body of do-gooders ever to exist in the United States, is created with the passage of the Communications Act of 1934. The FCC's ostensible purpose is to censor interesting broadcasts, silence dissenting political opinion and shelter Americans from dirty words and boobies.

Atomic spies Julius and Ethel Rosenberg are electrocuted at Sing-Sing Prison, becoming the first civilians ever executed for espionage in American history. Five jolts of electricity were required to kill Ethel. Her husband Julius was on the Soviet payroll, according to recently released archives. It is not clear whether Ethel had any involvement or how much Julius actually assisted the Soviet atomic bomb effort.

Roberto Calvi, chairman of Banco Ambrosiano, is found hanging from Blackfriar's Bridge in London. His death is initially ruled a suicide, though it is quite obviously murder; that assessment is later overturned. Calvi may have been killed because of his involvement in the laundering of drug money through the Vatican Bank.

While taking a walk, horror author Stephen King is struck by a van piloted by a distracted Bryan Smith. King's extensive injuries (broken leg, broken hip, lacerated scalp and collapsed lung) remanded him to a hospital bed for three weeks. Smith would later die in his sleep on Stephen King's birthday.

Already have. In Missouri, cattails are fair game - just like deer, though not as tasty.  :-)

They can quickly take over a sewer lagoon, making the "breakdown process" rather sluggish. I don't want my lagoon goin' septic on me.

Uh, AllosaursRus, if the "her" moniker refers to me, let the record show that I'm a guy.

I'm on 3.2 acres, the minimum allowed by law to support a sewer lagoon. I have one neighbor to my south, one to my north across the county road, and one to my west across the gravel road. I can't even see my neighbor to the east.
