 If you want to discuss sexism in contemporary humor, that's a legitimate topic. But I see all this as manufactured outrage over a joke David Letterman made that isn't even that original - comedians have been ragging on the Palin family for months on a similar vein. You could argue it was in bad taste, but why only focus on Letterman and his writers when they didn't even invent the joke?

Enough with the misdirection and the bait-and-switch. The RWers want us to bitch about Letterman so we don't pay attention to what they're doing to screw up America.

Who's with me on deep-sixing this overhyped kerfuffle?

 A joke is a ****ing joke, people. Some are in bad taste, some are vulgar, some aren't even funny, but all are meant to garner a response from the audience.

Letterman's joke did that, so it served its intended purpose.

It draws away from their lies and criminal activities plus it puts Failin's mug on the front pages and on the cable news shows. It's a win/win for them. This sort of thing seems to work well for them every time they use it.

I'm so glad this asshat is doing all the thinking for everybody on the planet! How in the world did we get by without him/her/it calling the shots and telling us what is pertinent to our beliefs?
