On right wing talk radio they asked what if Letterman said that about the Obama girls. . .
. . .I felt like calling in and reminding them that neither of the Obama girls are 18 year olds, who got knocked up by their boyfriends at 17 and then went on a media tour.

It may have been in poor taste on Letterman's part but I think late night comedians have a lot of room to tell jokes that would otherwise be in poor taste.

I love how they try to justify Dave ripping into a 14 year old but the Magic Negro's kids are off limits.

The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. Exactly.  He tried to backpeddle and claim he was talking about the 18 year old, which would have been stupid enough as it is, but the 14 year old was the one who was at the game so he was definately making reference to her despite his claims otherwise.  Letterman used to have enough sense to keep his stupid political opinions to himself.  Like most libs, he'll never learn.

I hope Obama's oldest grows up and marries a rap star.

If she decided to marry a white conservative, would they call her the "black sheep" of the family?   :-)

8. That does not excuse Letterman.
Sorry, but politicians' kids should be off limits. Whether she was "knocked up" (sexist much?) or not, is irrelevant. It's no one's business.

The real issue here is that too many liberals are hypocrites and will only stand up for women who they approve. The left never stood up for Hillary either when she was bashed in sexist terms by the MSM.

BTW, some day the Obama girls will also be 18 years old and it would be equally as appalling if some jerk made similar "jokes" about them.

9. I agree. I was very disappointed in Letterman's attack on
Palin's daughter (whether it was the 14 year old or the 18 year old). It was also sexist when he called Palin a slut. What is most disappointing, however, is the poor response from the left on this issue.

'They' have a point.  The dumb bastard is lucky it wasn't the 11-year-old.

Letterman hasn't been funny for a long time.  I hope CBS drops his ass and gives Craig Ferguson a promotion.  He's actually funny, and you don't have to put up with Paul Shafer.
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

  • Bite me, libs.
If Letterman really was talking about the 18yo daughter, then he is even more stupid and irresponsible, and has a staff full of idiots. The guy makes millions of dollars a year, has a national TV show, and a huge staff of writers. Am I to believe that not one of them reads a newspaper, and were completely ignorant of who was traveling with her when they decided to write that joke?

Hardly. He was implying that the 14yo is following in his slutty mother and sister's footprints.

He should be pilloried.

ANd that matters because?  The question you pose DUmmie is still a very vaild one that NONE of you are brave enough to answer.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle
