I'm getting really tired of this HATRED
My wife and I have some good friends who have helped us out innumerable times when we were in need. The only catch is that they are fundie Christians, and part of the price of receiving their help is the occasional rant and rave about the damned "lib'ruls".

These people are getting murdered by the health care system in the country. They have had friends and relatives chewed up and spat out by the military misadventures of our country. Yet they support the Bush-style politics that have stolen their hard earned cash in medical bills and mangled friends for no good reason.

Well, I guess it has finally sunk in with them that Obama really won the election, and that this is not going to change. The victory was not by 200 votes in Florida -- it was by a massive landslide in almost every state, and was accompanied by similar victories in the House and Senate, along with local elections.

Something has now changed. Their rants have turned uglier and uglier. "Obama truly is a Muslim -- there is no doubt about it now". "Obama was not born in the US -- the election needs to be overturned immediately". "Two weeks ago Obama publicly proclaimed that the US is NOT a Christian nation".

They claim that some "prophet" in the mega church they go to says that this statement has enraged God and that God is going to punish the US in ways it has never been punished before -- because of Obama. (This same prophet said that McCain would win the election, and the same church says that prophecy is a tool of the devil -- except for THEIR prophets...)

One thing that has little to do with the above except for the absurdity of the statement was their recent claims that the reason we lost the war in Vietnam is that Buddhist monks lined the runways in South Vietnam, and laid curses on every planeload of US troops arriving in Vietnam. Having studied Buddhism and history quite a bit, I know this is ridiculous on many different dimensions.

There is also the claim that worldwide, Muslims are reproducing at a rate of 8 to 1, while "good christians" (read "white people") are reproducing at a rate of 1 to 1. They claim that the entire rest of the world, except the US will be Muslim within 20 years. (A stupid idea at many levels, but these people don't seem to be the best at math).

What scares me about these rants are the charged emotions behind them. The vast majority of the people I have met in the mega church I referred to are NOT SMART ENOUGH to put this stuff together themselves, although most believe it. Someone is fueling this crap. Someone, or some group of people is serving as a propaganda and disinformation factory for this garbage. Too much of it is echoed by multiple sources at nearly the same time in obvious coordination to be anything else but some sort of well-managed disinformation campaign.

What I am hoping for is a reversal of the tolerance of right-wing hatred in this country. I am hoping that if certain people continue to incite violence in their followers, either subtly or overtly, and if violence happens, then these people are finally held responsible. In fact, I am hoping that this ugly ugly ugly talk gets squashed before then, and before more people get hurt or killed because of it.

If the US were to "squash" ugly, ugly talk, the DUmp would get dumped first.

You know, JM, if you just can't stand the hate anymore, maybe you should stop begging money from your "fundie" "friends."  (But, NO, that won't happen, will it?  So long as those "hateful" fundies are willing to help you out, you'll make nice to their faces and then stab them in the back as soon as they turn around, won't you?  Gee, I wonder why they don't like lib'ruls???)   :thatsright:

Let me get this straight. Your FUNDIE friend helps you out when you're to frikkin' lazy or stupid to do it yourself, yet you want to find fault with them for their beliefs.

What an utter ass you are! Why do you suppose they do this? Well, get a frikkin' clue! They do it BECAUSE of their FAITH, dipshit!

So tell me again why you're upset with them? Ya know, I notice, just like all the other asslickers at the DUmp, you continue to accept their "donations" don't you?

You are the most despicable, assholeish, disgusting, POS, on this entire PLANET!!!!!!!!!!!

How 'bout giving us your Charity in Chief's email? I'm sure after you looking the gift horse in the mouth, he would be more than happy to hear how you feel about his helping you out!

DAMN, just DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You need to have your nuts disintegrated with a soldering iron on the LOW setting!!!!!!

This is not a landslide:

THIS is a landslide.

And so was this...

Just so we're clear on the definition.

Wait.  52/48 win for Prop 8 in California is razor thin win that should be turned over.  52/48 win for Obama is the biggerest win evah!  MANDATE! blah blah blah.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
