DUmmies discuss walking out of stores with Fox News

An old, somewhat worn out topic, but there are some new takes, a PUMA fight, some new bouncies and a potential mole:

How many D.U.ers would walk out

of their local business's if they had FOX news on their t.v.s?
I liked when Keith Olberman asked people to walk out if this was the case.

We have several pizza shops and local diners that I stopped going to because they had Fox news on.

The one diner I asked as it on more than one T.V. do I really have to watch this? and the waitress was nice enough to change it...............if not I'm outta there.

FOX is on at nearly every establishment here in Boehner country.

When I do, I always tell the management I don't appreciate them showing Right-Wing propaganda. They usually change it - even though I don't think any of them realize how offensive FOX is.

I think customers do it.

7. Ummmm......

One of the reasons I did not renew my gym membership was because of their tv choice.

That said, I'd also walk if they were playing Olbermann. Same faux journalistic crap. Different agenda.

Olbermann and Limbaugh have a lot in common IMHO.

Bashing Olberdork!!!!!  Not a good sign.

55. Truth?

There were a lot of Dems who preferred candidates other than Hillary or Obama during the primaries. But all Olbermann could do was trash Hillary and worship Obama.

I'd say that's some pretty ****ing subjective truth.

Olberman is a political commentary show. DU is a political commentary site. Both a left leaning. Sometimes DUers are quite irrational.

Olbermann does not support all Dems.

The biased, arrogant liitle fake journalist spent considerable time during the primaries trashing Hillary, worshipping Obama and mostly ignoring the other Dem candidates.

He's not a journalist. Far from it. And he is a pretty ****ing poor king maker.

Keith's show is rooted in facts. Limbaugh's show is rooted in hate and bullshit.

Please tell me what the two shows have in common?

thanks!

I would say the exact opposite.  Olberdork preaches nothing but hatred for anything republican.

10. I live in the middle of conservative dum****istan, Arizona.

and EVERY business that has a TV on, is tuned to Faux.

I try not to go to any business that has any TVs on, but there is only one Pizza place in town, and, unless there is a Diamondback or Cardinal game, the TeeVee is blasting inSanity and O'Liely everywhere. Can't be avoided and they won't change the channel. So... I try not to eat pizza much and use take out whenever possible.

But I'm probably one of the few people this side of Attila the Hun here.

I believe that it is driving me insane. I just have to get out of here.

Aw, poor baby in Arizona, I feel so sorry for you.

I used to regularly buy lunch at a little sub shop around the corner. The owner had FOX going every day as well as running his mouth and bashing liberals. I didn't ask them to change the channel. I just quit giving him my business altogether.

That had some elements of a bouncy, but he/she/it just couldn't finish it.  So disappointing.

Only exception is in DC, both of my repuke senators had Fox on in their waiting rooms of their offices. I asked both why they didn't just tune in CSPAN but they didn't change the channel.

30. Don't be a bunch of pussies - get the channel changed.

This isn't about "I have better things to do" or "I don't choose my food based on politics" or "I'll piss off the owner". Those statements are a chickenshit cop-out. If you CLAIM to be a Progressive, a Democrat, a Liberal, or any of the other things we call ourselves here, get the channel changed.

If you're gonna talk the talk here, then walk the walk in the real world. Anything less puts you in the same boat as Limbaugh, Hannity, and O'Reilly - the USS Chickenshit Chickenhawk. All about TALKING UP the war, the battle, the struggle, the need for change in America, but not about joining the fight for real.

This is about tuning out the hate speech. Getting it out of people's ears. Toning down the outrageous rhetoric being vomited upon our nation. I've read far too many comments here from folks who are trying to explain why they're just too damned good or far too important or way too busy to do this. Be part of the solution or you're simply condoning the problem. You want change - REAL ****ING CHANGE - in this nation? If so, then summon up the self-respect you need to make a simple damn request.

Or just grow a set and ask that the channel be changed.

I've done it four times in the last 2 months. One guy (a busboy) argued with me about it. I pointed out that that FOXed-Up News is propaganda and that as a paying customer, I couldn't understand how he was in any position to disagree with me. He changed the channel himself - to CNN, but it sure beat listening to the garbage FOX spews. The other three changed the channel without a peep.

If I'm ever refused, I'll leave and I'll tell them why. My money spends EVERYWHERE!!!

If I'm eating or shopping or doing something where I'm not interested in TV, I don't do much other than curse under my breath.

I read somewhere that FAUX gives businesses free televisions in exchange for keeping them tuned to FOX. Don't know how true that is, but I thought I read about it here on DU.

Even complained to the manager of my favorite "oil change" shop. The manager took it to the regional manager's meeting and, lo and behold, I go in 3,000 miles later to discover the History Channel on and a proud manager who had been waiting to see me (he also hates Faux "News," but the management dictated it be on).

I've had them change the TVs in restaurants and, when I go see my doctor next week, I'll make him change it, too.

There's no reason I should be subjected to propaganda.

Oh - did I mention I live in a teeny liberal enclave in a sea of otherwise conservatism?

The TV is now only on the school channel.

This is a perfect example of how left wing rhetoric and hate speech causes verbal violence leading to possible physical violence towards normal Americans.  The bold line above is a direct result of the trash talk that came out of the Obama administration's Department of Homeland Security prior to April's "Tea Parties".   Horse with no Soul didn't come up with such a ridiculous idea on his own.  We have got to put a stop to such vile and disgusting rhetoric about the FOX News Channel before it leads to violence.

I just ordered a TV-B-Gone, for FOX News quarantine enforcement.

You can get your own here...

http://www.tvbgone.com/cfe_tvbg_main.php

It's a simple device, which looks sort of like a car's keyless entry remote, with a single button that causes it to emit the infrared "Power off" codes for every brand and model of TV it knows about, which is to say about 95%+ of TVs in existence.

Yeah, it's time to get aggressive when it comes to people playing FOX News in businesses, doctor's offices and other public places.

So, you're just going to go around to every TV in a public location and turn them off.  OK, how about a job? :whatever:

So far, the DUmmies are not buying it:

My theory on why 90% of the Duchebags are the size of a small barn: every gym in the nation has Fox News on and every DUmbass has to quit the gym.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Went to Casual Men store last night that was playing Hannity

My email to them this morning:

To whom it may concern,

Last evening I was shopping for new clothing in your Naperville, Illinois store. I like the products and pricing, however, this experience was a nightmare.

There was no problem getting help, trying on the clothing, or finding clothing. The problem was the choice of radio "entertainment" piped over the store's speaker system.

What I heard was despicable hate radio from Sean Hannity. I do not choose to listen to hate radio, nor do I expect to hear it from a store I am choosing to shop. This sort of radio programming is inappropriate for a public store that expects to service all members of the public. This demonstrates a political bias by your company that is unacceptable.

Unfortunately, this experience has forced me to forgo any further business with your company in any location in the world until I am informed that company policy forbids political hate radio broadcasts from the public areas of your stores.

Sincerely,
Walter E. Starr

We have several pizza shops and local diners that I stopped going to because they had Fox news on.

The one diner I asked as it on more than one T.V. do I really have to watch this? and the waitress was nice enough to change it...............if not I'm outta there.

Good - Watch the door don't hit yer ass on the way out.

Was nice to see it on a wide scale.
Fox News foments and encourages domestic terrorism. Their ****ing license to be on the air should be pulled.
Thank Dog lefties don't claim the GWoT is an unjust war of anti-islamic genocide where hapless muslims are raped and tortured by poor minorities brainwashed into becoming mindless killers for rich, white racists.

Why if stuff like that were happening you'd probably see minorities converting to islam and shooting up military facilities.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

H5 to JohnnyReb for his new sign!  Oh, we don't have H5 and BS's anymore.   ?

Anyway, these guys are also talking about mainly business hours.  It's after 5:00 when Beck, BOR, and Hannity come on.  During the afternoon, things are pretty mainstream.  They don't have pundit pits and stuff as far as I know.  It's just the news, nothing to have an aneurism over.
