An old, somewhat worn out topic, but there are some new takes, a PUMA fight, some new bouncies and a potential mole:

How many D.U.ers would walk out
of their local business's if they had FOX news on their t.v.s?
I liked when Keith Olberman asked people to walk out if this was the case.
We have several pizza shops and local diners that I stopped going to because they had Fox news on.
The one diner I asked as it on more than one T.V. do I really have to watch this? and the waitress was nice enough to change it...............if not I'm outta there.

4. I barely eat out anywhere in my town.
FOX is on at nearly every establishment here in Boehner country.
When I do, I always tell the management I don't appreciate them showing Right-Wing propaganda. They usually change it - even though I don't think any of them realize how offensive FOX is.
I think customers do it.

7. Ummmm......
One of the reasons I did not renew my gym membership was because of their tv choice.
That said, I'd also walk if they were playing Olbermann. Same faux journalistic crap. Different agenda.
Olbermann and Limbaugh have a lot in common IMHO.
Bashing Olberdork!!!!! Not a good sign.

19. The significant difference is that Olbermann try to convey the truth.

55. Truth?
There were a lot of Dems who preferred candidates other than Hillary or Obama during the primaries. But all Olbermann could do was trash Hillary and worship Obama.
I'd say that's some pretty ****ing subjective truth.

39. Why do you participate here then?
Olberman is a political commentary show. DU is a political commentary site. Both a left leaning. Sometimes DUers are quite irrational.

56. Maybe you missed it
Olbermann does not support all Dems.
The biased, arrogant liitle fake journalist spent considerable time during the primaries trashing Hillary, worshipping Obama and mostly ignoring the other Dem candidates.
He's not a journalist. Far from it. And he is a pretty ****ing poor king maker.

51. Keith and Limbaugh? Updated at 10:03 AM
Keith's show is rooted in facts. Limbaugh's show is rooted in hate and bullshit.
Please tell me what the two shows have in common?
thanks!
-90% Jimmy
I would say the exact opposite. Olberdork preaches nothing but hatred for anything republican.

10. I live in the middle of conservative dum****istan, Arizona.
and EVERY business that has a TV on, is tuned to Faux.
I try not to go to any business that has any TVs on, but there is only one Pizza place in town, and, unless there is a Diamondback or Cardinal game, the TeeVee is blasting inSanity and O'Liely everywhere. Can't be avoided and they won't change the channel. So... I try not to eat pizza much and use take out whenever possible.
But I'm probably one of the few people this side of Attila the Hun here.
I believe that it is driving me insane. I just have to get out of here.
Aw, poor baby in Arizona, I feel so sorry for you.

16. I've done it.
I used to regularly buy lunch at a little sub shop around the corner. The owner had FOX going every day as well as running his mouth and bashing liberals. I didn't ask them to change the channel. I just quit giving him my business altogether.
That had some elements of a bouncy, but he/she/it just couldn't finish it. So disappointing.

17. I always ask them to turn the channel
and they usually do.
Only exception is in DC, both of my repuke senators had Fox on in their waiting rooms of their offices. I asked both why they didn't just tune in CSPAN but they didn't change the channel.

18. I already do.
Was nice to see it on a wide scale.
Fox News foments and encourages domestic terrorism. Their ****ing license to be on the air should be pulled.
You're calling a few DUmmies "widescale"? They might need a wide scale to weigh all of them.

30. Don't be a bunch of pussies - get the channel changed.
This isn't about "I have better things to do" or "I don't choose my food based on politics" or "I'll piss off the owner". Those statements are a chickenshit cop-out. If you CLAIM to be a Progressive, a Democrat, a Liberal, or any of the other things we call ourselves here, get the channel changed.
If you're gonna talk the talk here, then walk the walk in the real world. Anything less puts you in the same boat as Limbaugh, Hannity, and O'Reilly - the USS Chickenshit Chickenhawk. All about TALKING UP the war, the battle, the struggle, the need for change in America, but not about joining the fight for real.
This is about tuning out the hate speech. Getting it out of people's ears. Toning down the outrageous rhetoric being vomited upon our nation. I've read far too many comments here from folks who are trying to explain why they're just too damned good or far too important or way too busy to do this. Be part of the solution or you're simply condoning the problem. You want change - REAL ****ING CHANGE - in this nation? If so, then summon up the self-respect you need to make a simple damn request.
Or just grow a set and ask that the channel be changed.
I've done it four times in the last 2 months. One guy (a busboy) argued with me about it. I pointed out that that FOXed-Up News is propaganda and that as a paying customer, I couldn't understand how he was in any position to disagree with me. He changed the channel himself - to CNN, but it sure beat listening to the garbage FOX spews. The other three changed the channel without a peep.
If I'm ever refused, I'll leave and I'll tell them why. My money spends EVERYWHERE!!!

I strongly object to the word "*****/pussies" used to describe persons who are weak, timid, or unmanly.

34. I've changed the channel before at the ****ing Jiffy Lube waiting to get
my oil changed because I was bored and wanted to watch something.
If I'm eating or shopping or doing something where I'm not interested in TV, I don't do much other than curse under my breath.
I read somewhere that FAUX gives businesses free televisions in exchange for keeping them tuned to FOX. Don't know how true that is, but I thought I read about it here on DU.
Well if you read it at DU, it must be the truth....

35. I do it all the time
Even complained to the manager of my favorite "oil change" shop. The manager took it to the regional manager's meeting and, lo and behold, I go in 3,000 miles later to discover the History Channel on and a proud manager who had been waiting to see me (he also hates Faux "News," but the management dictated it be on).
I've had them change the TVs in restaurants and, when I go see my doctor next week, I'll make him change it, too.
There's no reason I should be subjected to propaganda.
Oh - did I mention I live in a teeny liberal enclave in a sea of otherwise conservatism?

38. I changed banks
the one I had used and loved was gobbled up by another, who remodeled the bank and installed televisions that were always on Faux. Couldn't stand that or the new attitude of the tellers, and moved to another bank.

45. They had it on in the office at my son's school
several years ago and I walked over and turned it off. I then went to the principal to complain and he tried to tell me that some watch CNN. He tried to tell me that CNN was as liberal as FOX is conservative.
The TV is now only on the school channel.
