Re: "For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country, because it feels like hope is making a comeback." — Michelle Obama I wrote not long ago that Michelle Obama is a loose cannon, and I fear that her latest is not her last. I would have thought that two Ivy-League degrees, a joint income of about a million dollars, exclusive private schools for the kids, and a nice home in the suburbs were not so bad and might suggest that hope had made a comeback well before Barack's presidential run. Were Democrats fleeing the self-absorption of the Billary power couple of two Yale-educated lawyers — only to embrace the self-absorption of a power-couple of two Harvard-educated lawyers? Or was it a Yale versus Harvard Law School intramural thing all along?
*snip*An article in the conservative magazine Commentary on Tuesday said Michelle Obama’s comments suggest “the pseudo-messianic nature of the Obama candidacy is very much a part of the way the Obamas themselves are feeling.â€â€œCan it really be there has not been a moment during that time when she felt proud of her country?†the article asked. “Forget matters like the victory in the Cold War; how about only things that have made liberals proud — all the accomplishments of inclusion? How about the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1991? Or Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s elevation to the Supreme Court?â€Michelle Obama was born in 1964, meaning her adult life began roughly in the early ’80s.Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol said the comment “was sort of revealing.â€â€œShe was an adult when we won the Cold War without firing a shot. She was an adult for the last 25 years of economic progress, social progress,†he told FOX News. “I think the Democrats have to be careful … they’re running against the status quo … You have to be careful not to let that slide into a kind of indictment of America. Because I don’t think the American people think on the whole that the last 25 years of American history is a narrative of despair and nothing to be proud of.â€*snip*
Foot meet mouth. There is no way she is living this down.

Just when you thought Hillary was the worst First Lady either, Michelle Obama could leave her in the dust.

This isn't the first stupid thing Michelle has said, remember when she claimed she gets scared everytime Barack has to fill up the car because he could be shot because he was black?
isn't it ironic that Mrs. Obama makes over $300k (or did until she took time off to campaign) at a public hospital? And she talks about the "health crisis" in this country???

Hillary at first overplayed her hand (and "Hillarycare" is very much in play if she gets the nod). She vacillated between the acceptable boundaries (we all remember the ant-semitic reception of the PLO's first lady). But she wasn't no "Mama Theresa," which is where Mrs. hussein is headed.

Newsweek has a [1] long article on the wonderfulness of Mrs. Obama, but she sounds like she’s got a log-sized chip on her shoulder from lucking into Princeton due to affirmative action. For predictable reasons, being admitted into one of the Big Four super colleges and being given lots of financial aid didn’t instill in her a feeling of gratitude toward the benevolence of white people. Instead, it just fed her adolescent self-consciousness and racial paranoia. The bad news is that she doesn’t seem to have gotten over it yet. (She’s 44).She did well in school (she skipped second grade), but she was not at the top of her class. She didn’t get the attention of the school’s college counselors, who helped the brightest students find spots at prestigious universities. “Princeton, the Ivy Leagues swoop up kids†like [her brother] Craig, Michelle says. “A black kid from the South Side of Chicago that plays basketball and is smart. He was getting in everywhere. But I knew him, and I knew his study habits, and I was, like, ‘I can do that too’.†Some of her teachers told her she didn’t have the grades or test scores to make it to the Ivies. But she applied to Princeton and was accepted.Overwhelmingly white and privileged, Princeton was not an easy place for a young black woman from the inner city. There weren’t formal racial barriers and black students weren’t officially excluded. But many of the white students couldn’t hide that they regarded their African- American classmates as affirmative-action recipients who didn’t really deserve to be there. Cont......
Democratic Sen. Barack Obama sought Tuesday to clarify his wife’s statement that she is proud of the U.S. “for the first time in my adult life.†He said her newfound pride is about the political system and was not meant to disparage her country…â€Statements like this are made and people try to take it out of context and make a great big deal out of it, and that isn’t at all what she meant,†Obama said. “What she meant was, this is the first time that she’s been proud of the politics of America,†he said. “Because she’s pretty cynical about the political process, and with good reason, and she’s not alone. But she has seen large numbers of people get involved in the process, and she’s encouraged.â€
