Topsy Turvy tomato planter
« on: May 29, 2009, 12:36:58 PM »
Hi

Has anyone tried the Topsy Turvy Tomato planter?

I planted a tomato plant last weekend and today it looks dead but looking on the Internets, it seems like it works so I am curious what I did wrong?

My number one guess is after buying a seedling, I waited about a month before after replanting it to a pot and then last weekend replanting it into the Topsy Turvy.

I was really looking forward to this working because I am a lazy gardner.  See, even the way I spell gardner is lazy.

My wife was captivated by the ads.  I hid the catalog while she was in the bathroom and replaced it with a keychain with a tiny flashlight on it.  She hasn't thought about the tomato planter since.

There should be only one question when applying for a credit card:

1--Would you buy anything you saw in a television advertisement using this card?

If the answer was, "Yes," immediately reject them, regardless of creditworthiness.

I bought mine at Menards.  Here's an article that shows it can work:

They've been growing them upside down in 5 gallon buckets around here for several years so I'm assuming the cheap thing you see on TV would work.

Guess it is prettier than a 5 gallon bucket but I'll bet it's not as cheap.

I'd rather get the wicker things mentioned in the above article if I try again.

I was tempted by these last year but didn't get one. I was looking again on a website that I buy quite a bit from and found these reviews http://www.lakeland.co.uk/tomato-planter/F/product/51185?src=gpgar&sq=[keyword}

I think I'll pass again this year.
